May you all have a wonderful Halloween with the ones you love... with lots of laughter and friendship. Be safe and if you have any candy left over, please consider The Halloween Candy Buy Back Program.  This program has dentists all over the country collect extra Halloween candy and give it to Operation Gratitude (one of my favorite organizations), who then sends the candy to U.S. Military deployed in harm's way.  Doesn't get any better than that, in my book!

Thank you to my friend, Jen over at The Suburban Mom for letting me know about The Candy Buy Back Program... you rock!!

Happy Halloween, everybody!!

Halloween Funny

 Flying Witch

An extremely modest man was in the hospital for a series of tests, the last of which had left his bodily systems extremely upset. Upon making several false alarm trips to the bathroom, he decided the latest episode was another and stayed put. He suddenly filled his bed with diarrhea and was embarrassed beyond his ability to remain rational. In a complete loss of composure he jumped out of bed, gathered up the bed sheets, and threw them out the hospital window.

A drunk was walking by the hospital when the sheets landed on him. He started yelling, cursing, and swinging his arms violently trying to get the unknown things off and ended up with the soiled sheets in a tangled pile at his feet.

As the drunk stood there, unsteady on his feet, staring down at the sheets, a hospital security guard, barely containing his laughter, and who had watched the whole incident, walked up and asked, "What the heck is going on here?"
The drunk, still staring down replied ........ "I think I just beat the shit out of a ghost."

Cartoon of the Day - It's Silly, Sorry

OK, I know this one is silly, but it made me laugh and I hope you do, too.....

Have a terrific day, hope you get a chance to smile.

Howl-o-Ween Party at Woof Gang Bakery

On Wednesday night, October 27th, Bill and I took three of the dogs to Woof Gang Bakery in downtown Celebration for their Howl-o-Ween Party.  They had fresh baked pumpkin treats for all the doggies that were there, delicious cheese, humus, pita bread and wines from a local eatery (one of our favorites), Imperium Food and Wine and all the pets who came in costume were entered into a drawing for a chance to win a gift basket of toys and goodies from the bakery.

Of course, you know me... my three puppies were dressed up in their Halloween costumes for the festivities:

Nano the HotDog; Lady Mia the Princess Witch; and Mandie the Angel

Here are some of the Halloween cookies that the Bakery made for the occasion. Aren't they just beautiful...

Here are all the adorable puppies that were there, some in costume - some not.  Plus my babies got to meet lots of other doggies, they just loved it!  I am so proud of them, they were SO good the whole night.

We had a great night and so did the puppies. Now we can't wait until Halloween to dress them up again and dress up the other three and meet all the kids that come to the house.  Wishing you all a wonderful, happy and safe Halloween!

I Got my Halloween Blog or Treat Swap Package!!

I was lucky enough to participate again this year in Shannon from The Mommy-Files Halloween Blog or Treat.  It is a wonderful blog swap where we exchange packages full of Halloween goodies with another blog writer.  I had the privilege of exchanging packages with Brie of Brie-Fly's Blog.  Look at the wonderful things that she sent me:

WerewolfBrie sent me some fabulous things... Great socks, that I will probably be wearing to my Brandcation trip, delicious smelling candles in my favorite flavors, chocolate (including DARK - my absolute favorite kind) and something for my "babies": delicious doggie treats.  How do I know they are delicious?  Well, there is only one left, for one thing, and Mandie growls at anyone coming near here when she has one in her mouth ~ don't you dare try and take that from her!!

Flying WitchThank you Brie, for you generosity and for remembering my fur-babies... that touched my heart. Your package is on your way, Fed-Ex should have it at your house on Thursday... Happy Halloween.

If you'd like to see what all the participants received, head on over to The Mommy-Files and check out the
Blog or Treat Link-Up.  Thank you SO much Shannon for arranging this again for this year.  I had so much fun shopping for my partner and receiving my package.  Bloggy friends are the best.

This week our theme is... you guessed it... HALLOWEEN!!!!  It is one of my favorite holidays and to start off this week, I chose a spooky song that just about everyone knows:

John Carpenter's Theme from Halloween (aka Michael Meyer's Theme)

My next choice is a cool rock and roll tune (as if you thought I wouldn't include one) that gets you swaying to the beat:

The Eagles' Witchy Woman

Finally, a fun song by a really talented artist that I truly enjoy:

Warren Zevon with Werewolves of London

Plus I wish you all a really happy, healthy and safe Halloween with those that you love.... BOO!!!  Trick O' Treater

A Woman's Right to Vote - What it Cost

With election day coming right around the corner, Nov. 2, 2010, I just wanted to remind all women to get out and use your right to vote, you have only had that right since the passing of the 19th Amendment on Aug. 26, 1920!

The right for women to vote is something that was hard fought for and it is with very good reason that is was called the Suffrage Movement.

Many of our mothers and grandmothers protested outside the White House asking President Wilson when they would have liberty and the right to vote. These women were innocent and defenseless yet they were constantly arrested for, believe it or not, "obstructing sidewalk traffic."  However, once out of jail, these courageous women would return to the picket line.

Then on what would become known as "The Night of Terror," Nov. 2, 1917, thirty-three of these imprisoned women, with the blessing of the warden, were beaten senseless by 40 club wielding prison guards with many being left barely alive by the end of the night.

They beat Lucy Burns, chained her hands to the cell bars above her head and left her hanging for the night, bleeding and gasping for air. They hurled Dora Lewis into a dark cell, smashed her head against an iron bed and knocked her out cold. Her cellmate, Alice Cosu, thought Lewis was dead and suffered a heart attack.  When one of the leaders, Alice Paul, embarked on a hunger strike, they tied her to a chair, forced a tube down her throat and poured liquid into her until she vomited. She was tortured like this for weeks until word was smuggled out to the press.

President Woodrow Wilson try to persuade a psychiatrist to declare Alice Paul insane so that she could be permanently institutionalized, however the doctor refused. Alice Paul was strong, he said, and brave, that didn't make her crazy. The doctor admonished that: 'Courage in women is often mistaken for insanity.'

These women worked so hard and fought with everything that they had so that we could have the privilege to vote. Please exercise that right on November 2, 2010, don't let their sacrifice be for nothing.

Coroner Vote 2010

My friend Greg over at Telling Dad saw a political sign the other day reading “Mike Kelly for Coroner” - who, knew???  So, out of that, came this terrific idea for him and another blogger to battle each other and run a fake campaign for Honorary Coroner.  Head on over to Greg's site to read all about how this came about and find out about the official Coroner Vote 2010 site.

On the official site, both "Candidates" will sing their own praises, run attack ads, and even hold debates. The official winner will be announced on Halloween. Make sure you keep up with the campaign because they will also be giving out two $50 gift cards.  WooHoo!!

Just so you know, I am a big supporter of Greg, so I will be voting for him when the voting starts tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 24th.  Feel free to tweet, blog, or put this on your Facebook page so Greg gets lots of attention.... make this like our virtual front yard signs.

Update: Voting will begin on Monday, October 25th...
