Guess What I Just Got~~ Summoned to Jury Duty!!

Can you believe it?!?!?!? With all the crap that I've been through this year, I just got a notice from the Osceola county court system requesting honor of my presence at jury duty next month!! I just cannot believe it... there is NO way that I can do it. It is not that I am shirking my responsibility as a US citizen, I have gone in the past, up in Connecticut, prior to my injury. I reported at 8:30 a.m. and I spent the whole day at the court house. Listened to the beginnings of the case, even sat for the instructions to voir dire (?sp), and waited my turn to be questioned. Then about 4:30 p.m. as they were questioning the person before me ~ they went in alphabetical order and my last name begins with an "S", they dismissed us all saying we were excused for the next three years. What a freaking waist of a day... at least I got some reading done, but it cost me $8.00 to park!!

Well, now, with my physical and mental condition, there is no way I can sit in a court house all day with strangers. It is just one more thing that is stressing me out. So here I sit waiting for my the judiciary system to respond to my email about excusing me from their "request to appear". Wish me luck everyone.

Until next time..... Lorie

Yuck, jury duty. I had to do that when I was 7 months pregnant, and it was so boring. Thankfully the case was resolved in a day though.

Good luck! Hope you can get out of it in the end.

Oh no!!! The dreaded Jury Duty summons...I hate that! Last time I went - about a year ago - was for a really horrible case. They almost picked me, but it turns out that I knew the Commander on the police force...they didn't like that. But it still took them about 2 days to decide they didn't want me.

Good luck getting out of this - it sounds like you have very good reason to not go. I will be crossing my fingers for you!

Thanks for stopping by my Friday Fragments...I appreciate your comments. Thanks also for your words of comfort about the endoscopy - I am nervous, but I don't have much choice. Hopefully it won't be too bad.

Thanks!

Can't you just call to postpone it for like 6 months? You can even write to them that you have financial hardship and they will dissmiss you. At least here in Cali they do!

Oh no! I'm so sorry Lorie. Be honest with them. Tell them your mental state right now is a mess and surely an attorney wouldn't want you on the jury.
