Thursday Recipe Swap Meet ~ Blueberry Bread Pudding

.

First I want to apologize for not getting over to everyone's posts last week to visit as I was without a computer. Second, I want to thank you all for your participation... Dolly and I would be NO where without your wonderful contributions. We love you all... HUGGLES!!

OK... we know you have all these recipes that you love to make. You got them from your mother, your grandmother, a magazine, or maybe you made it up, perhaps you don't even remember where the recipe came from. Well, how about sharing them with all of us? We are going to share ours with you every Thursday!

My good friend and (according to her husband) excellent cook, Dolly over at XmasDolly and I are now doing a recipe swap; we want to share ours with you and wold LOVE to get some of your favorites as well... So, Welcome to Thursday's Recipe Swap Meet, here is all you have to do:

Photobucket

Post a recipe on your blog, sign the linky on either blog (they will be linked), grab our new button - isn't she cute - hubby says she looks like me... TeeHee? (above, on my sidebar and on my Co-Chef Dolly's blog) and check out the recipes. Don't forget that each week you actually will be getting at least TWO for the price of ONE because both Dolly and I will post a recipe on each of our blogs. How simple is that??

On Saturday, we went to this amazing German bakery with our good friend Lynne, Yahala Bakery and purchased some delicious pastries and bread (plus had lunch there: bratwurst with sauerkraut on an awesome roll and beer). Right next to the bakery was a fruit stand with a blueberry patch in the back where you could pick your own blueberries, SO..... that is exactly what we did:

Blueberry Bread Pudding

6-8 Slices white bread, crusts removed (I used butter bread from the German bakery)

1/2 Cup (1stick) unsalted butter, melted
3 Cups evaporated milk (you can also use buttermilk or half-and-half)
4 Large eggs
1/2 Cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 Cups fresh blueberries (thawed frozen berries can be used if not in season)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Slice bread on the diagonal and brush both sides with the melted butter; put aside as you prepare the custard.

Beat together milk, eggs, sugar, and vanilla on medium speed until blended.

Pour some custard into an ungreased 2-quart baking dish and sprinkle 1/2 the blueberries over the custard.

Arrange the bread slices in dish, overlapping some on top of custard/blueberry layer, pushing down slightly to cover bread with custard.

Pour remaining custard over bread slices and sprinkle the rest of the blueberries on top.
Bake for 50 - 60 minutes.
Cool on a wire rack and dust with confectioners' sugar.

This recipe has a split review, the custard received 6 out of 6 puppy tail wags, but only 3 out of 6 for the blueberries. =)  Hubby loves it, bread pudding is one of his favorites - mine, too.

So now all you have to do is sign our linky so we all can find your recipes. You check out all ours and we will check out all yours. If you don't want to write it all down and you know of one on line just post a link to it on your blog or leave it in a comment if you prefer!

Let's get cooking..... Bon Appetit!

Wowza! This sounds amazing! I really miss desserts...but this one will be sooo easy to convert to gluten-free.

I'm only here 2 1/2 more days...and know I won't be able to get off property to come down to Celebration. :( Will you and Bill be up this way any time soon?

The kids and I are doing EPCOT Future World today and MK tomorrow. Not sure which park we'll choose for our last half day on Saturday.
