Flower Power Concerts at WDW EPCOT Flower and Garden Fest

.

Epcot® International Flower & Garden Festival

One of Bill and my favorite events at Disney World is the Flower and Garden Festival at EPCOT that happens every spring.  Besides all the amazing flower sculptures, that I will post in the future, there are concerts every weekend featuring bands from the 60's that Bill and I just adore.

We have already been to two of the concerts and had so much fun. It is amazing that these old rockers can still sing, dance, and put on such fantastic shows - we have a ball at all of them.

The first show we went to was Chubby Checker, on St. Patrick's day, and boy can he still twist.....

I love how he had audience members come up and do the twist with him.

The next concert we went to was on March 23rd and we saw The Guess Who, they also were fabulous! The whole audience was singing along and really having a blast. It was amazing the wide range of ages that were there, everyone from little kids to people in their 70's and 80's.....

Only one original member is left in the group, but they still sound AWESOME!

This gentlemen is part of the maintenance crew at EPCOT and he started dancing his little heart out while we were waiting in line during the first show for the second show... he was ADORABLE.

I can't wait for the rest of the shows during the festival. This weekend we are going to see Paul Revere and the Raiders. We have seen them twice already, and they put on a magnificent show, so I am really looking forward to this one.

If you are in the Orlando area this spring, between April 10 - May 19, 2013, make sure you head on over to EPCOT to Flower and Garden Festival, you will not be disappointed.

Our First Visit to 2012 EPCOT Food & Wine Fest

.

Since Walt Disney World is basically our backyard, Bill and I LOVE when the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival arrives each fall. We go almost once or twice a week to eat and see the Eat to the Beat Concerts that feature some of the rock and roll bands that we both love so much.

Last Saturday, we made our first 15 minute trek from our door to EPCOT's entrance to eat our way around the world. We managed to get about 1/4 away around EPCOT's World Showcase.

We started off in Hawaii with with Kahlua Pork Sliders with Sweet and Sour Dole Pineapple Chutney and Spicy Mayonnaise and a Kona Brewing Company Big Wave Golden Ale... man was that delicious, just the right amount of sweet and spice. Next was Greece where we each had a Chicken Souvlaki with Tzatsiki (and finished our Kona beer)... another great marriage of spice and sweet. Then as we headed over toward the American Garden's Theater for the concert, we stopped at Italy for Ravioli di Formaggio all'Emiliana (Beef Bolognese Sauce, Parmesan, and Mozzarella) with water and iced tea. Plus I had a Chocolate Covered Cannoli - YUMMY!!

The thing that totally made me laugh was that with all the food from countries all over the world, this line happened:

This is a McDonalds... these people chose to eat McDonalds food instead of the delicious food from all the booths from countries all over the world. I just don't get some people. =\

Then onto the show..... We saw Starship staring Mickey Thomas. They were awesome, as they have been the last 9 times we have seen them. It was sad not seeing Mark Abrahamian after watching him play such awesome lead guitar for all those years (I have photos of him on my FB page), but Jeff Tamelier did a great job and is a fabulous showman. So here are my photos of Lead Vocalist, Mickey Thomas; Additional vocals, Stephanie Calvert (you should hear her do White Rabbit - I get chills); Guitar, Jeff Tamelier; Bass, Back-up vocals, Jeff Adams; Drums, Darrell Verdusco; Keyboards, Back-up vocals, Phil Bennett:

We had such a great time and cannot wait to go back for more food - some I am looking forward to are Germany, Poland, and a new one this year, a Florida Local Booth. Of course there is an Ireland booth that has a Warm Chocolate Lava Cake with Bailey's Ganache... I'll be getting that more than once!

Stay tuned for the continuing saga as Bill and I eat our way around the world.  =)

Monday's Music Moves Me: Nov. 7, 2011 ~ Night Ranger Then and Now

Welcome to a Monday's Music Moves Me, the fantabulistic music meme hosted by me, my dearest of friends Dolly from XmasDolly, Callie from Jamerican Spice and the wonderful Stacy from Stacy Uncorked. This week's theme is all about The Eighties! So, what do YOU remember from the 80's besides big hair and tight pants??? If you are too young to remember the 80's, you can post your favorite Disney song, we all have at least ONE of those.

I was lucky enough to see today's featured band this past Friday night at EPCOT in Walt Disney World during the Food and Wine Festival. There was some SERIOUSLY AWESOME guitar playing during the concert!

The following two songs were played during the concert on Friday and I actually think they sounded better than when they played in the 80's. They did the entire set on electric acoustic guitars... it was amazing.  I have posted all the photos on Facebook.

Enjoy.....

38 Special at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival

.

On Monday night, Bill and I went to EPCOT for the Food and Wine Festival to have a bit to eat and to see 38 Special in concert. As usual, we loved every minute of our time there....

We got in line for the 2nd thirty minute concert and Bill had just enough time to go get us something to eat at the Polish station. We had pierogies with kielbasa and grilled sweet onions, mmmmm, so good.

Then the concert was 30 minutes of excellent rock and roll. Here are some of the photos (the rest will be on Facebook):

After the awesome concert, we went off to eat more food... yummy! We stopped at the Italy cart and Bill had some delicious baked cheese ravioli and I had cappelini with spicy shrimp. Next we stopped for dessert at another Italian cart for tiramisu, which was to DIE FOR!!!

What a great date night with my wonderful hubby!! We plan on heading back on Friday to see Jon Secada..... and of course try out some more food. =)

Hope if you are in the central Florida area you get a chance to go to the Food and Wine Fest... is outstanding! Check out Disney's website for a list of all the Eat to the Beat concerts.

{Disclosure: I was not compensated in any way by Disney for this post. I have my annual Disney Pass and I just LOVE all things Disney and we have so much fun when we go that I wanted to share the event with all of you.}
