Happy Father's Day

.

Wishing all the fathers, step-fathers, grandfathers, foster fathers, and single mothers acting as mother and father a very happy Father's Day.  Hope you are surrounded by family, happiness, and lots of love.

Although I had a difficult relationship with my father, he was a wonderful grandfather to my boys and they miss him terribly. For all you did for my boys, thank you and wish you were still here, Dad.

The last photo of my boys with my dad

As for my husband, Bill, he is not only the most wonderful husband in the world, he is the best father and step-father ever. When we got married in 1997, my boys were 9 and 6 and Bill has always been there for them, whether it is for a school function, help with repairing a bicycle, or just to talk... he especially has a way of making our lives special by always having a way to make us laugh. For that and so much more, I want to say thank you and I love you with my whole heart.

The first summer Alex was taller than both of us.

May you all have a fabulous Father's Day and a wonderful weekend, surrounded by those you love.

P.S. The babies would like to say that they love daddy so much and thank him for all he has done for them.

Memorial Day - Remember Those Who Have Paid the Ultimate Sacrifice

.

As the mother of a soldier who returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan, I am so grateful that he suffered no injuries and has had no lingering mental effects. He did however, lose one member of his unit while he was in country, so I dedicate this post and this weekend to SSG Edwin Rivera and all the other members of the Military who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the service to our country.

God bless them for volunteering to protect the United States of America buy doing whatever was asked of them... and blessings and sympathy to their families for all they have sacrificed.

To them I dedicate the following songs.....

As you have your picnics and family fun at the beach or wherever, please remember those who serve our country now, in the past, and those who lost their lives doing so.

God bless our Military and God bless the USA.

Happy Pi Day

.

Happy Pi Day - 3/14 is officially Pi day.

PI = 3.14159265(to infinity)

Now, I was pretty good in math in high school and in college, but the only thing I remember about Pi is that the circumference of a circle is 2Ï€r. That's really not gonna get me anywhere in Mathematical circles, so I think I'll just stick to this kind of "pie."

Happy Pi/Pie day whichever way you decide to celebrate!  HUGGLES!!

Countdown to Christmas..... Elves Light the Way

.
3 Days Until Christmas

My neighbors, "The Griswalds," have taken it upon themselves to now decorate the street lights on their street (that is perpendicular to my street) with colored cloth and little elves. So now the whole street is guarded by elves and lit by candy canes.

I swear it can be seen by the ISS.....

I hope you are enjoying the Christmas decorations in your neighborhood.... and I hope you are continuing to stay safe and sane, my friends.

Veterans Day 2012 ~ Remember and Honor

.

On this day of remembrance, please be thoughtful of all of our veterans who bravely served so that we can live in the greatest country in the world, with all the freedoms that enjoy.

Please also keep in mind those who are still serving and are away from their families, and say a prayer that they all come home safely, soon.

I would like to give a shout out to my father and Uncle Raymond who served in the Air Force, and of course my son, Nikolaus, who is in the Army Reserves now, and spent a year in Afghanistan. I am so proud of you and thank you for your service and am so blessed that you all came home safely to our family.

God bless all of you who serve and have served to protect us and our country, and God bless America.

"Let it Glow" Festival of Trees to Benefit Noah's Light Foundation

.

On November 30th, Celebration Town Hall will be all lit up with the glow of festival trees to benefit Noah's Light Foundation, as you know one of my favorite charities. There will be many ways to help the charity:

~ Purchase one of the beautifully decorated designer trees for your own home
~ Shop for holiday decorations; let your children shop on their own, too
~ Enter raffles to win great holiday items
~ Purchase a photograph of yourself with the Big Elf, himself - SANTA CLAUS
~ Enjoy the delicious holiday goodies, including the "Glowtini," the special drink of the event.
~ Of course, direct donations are always accepted  =)

Tickets in advance are $10 for adults/$5 for children 12 and under; tickets at the door are $15 for adults/$5 for children 12 and under.

To purchase tickets in advance head over to Noah's Light Foundation Event Page.

To make a donation at any time, head over to Noah's Light Donation Page.

Twas the night of Noah’s Party,
and all through Town Hall,

The people were laughing and having a ball.

The goodies were passed by servers with care,
As cocktails were flowing from bartenders with flair.

The music – it played, the raffles were won,
The carolers sang and the night wasn’t done.

For out of the blue, the Guests stopped and they paused,
And they knew they were there for a wonderful cause.

To help our Foundation find the cure; find the answer,
So that no other child loses their life to brain cancer. *

Hope to see you there!

Happy Father's Day to the BEST Father, Step-Father, and Grandfather!

.

Today I want to wish the most wonderful man in the world a very happy Father's Day... Yes, Bill is the most wonderful father to his two children, the BEST step-father to my no-so-little boys, and a great grandfather to his four grandchildren.

We all love him so much and are SO lucky to have him in our lives.

<><>
Three Generations of Shewbridges: Bill, Colby, and Del (plus Debbie sneaking in)

I'd also like to wish a very happy Father's Day to my step-son Del, who is a fabulous father. I saw first hand just how wonderful, a couple of weeks ago when they were visiting from Texas. His son Colby is such a well behaved, polite, and loving little boy. And that can only be from the way he has been raised by his father and mother. So happy Father's Day, Del... you deserve it!

Hope all my friends have a very happy Father's Day and get to be surrounded by the ones they love.

As always, please keep in mind those fathers who are not able to be with their families because they are protecting us all by serving in the military. Praying they all return home safely soon.

Happy Flag Day

.
On June 14, 1777, The Continental Congress passed the first Flag Act stating, "Resolved, That the flag of the United States be made of thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation."  In 1949, President Harry S Truman officially named June 14th Flag Day in commemoration of this event.

So today... show your colors proud, either on our home or on yourself. OR, like we do - on both.

Also, please keep in mind the men and women who serve to keep our flag flying free!

God Bless America!!

Happy Holidays to You All

.

To those of us who are Christian, today is a very special day in that we celebrate the resurrection of our savior, Jesus Christ. I am wishing all of you celebrating Easter, a very happy day with whomever you are with, and that you are all surrounded by love and joy.

For my Jewish friends, I want to wish you a joyous Passover... From my research and my own personal bible studies, I have learned the story of Passover as follows (taken from Chabad.org):

"After many decades of slavery to the Egyptian pharaohs, during which time the Israelites were subjected to backbreaking labor and unbearable horrors, God saw the people’s distress and sent Moses to Pharaoh with a message: “Send forth My people, so that they may serve Me.” But despite numerous warnings, Pharaoh refused to heed God’s command. God then sent upon Egypt ten devastating plagues, afflicting them and destroying everything from their livestock to their crops.

At the stroke of midnight of 15 Nissan in the year 1313 BCE, God visited the last of the ten plagues on the Egyptians, killing all their firstborn. While doing so, God spared the Children of Israel, “passing over” their homes—hence the name of the holiday. Pharaoh’s resistance was broken, and he virtually chased his former slaves out of the land. The Israelites left in such a hurry, in fact, that the bread they baked as provisions for the way did not have time to rise. Six hundred thousand adult males, plus many more women and children, left Egypt on that day, and began the trek to Mount Sinai and their birth as God’s chosen people."

I wish the same for my Jewish friends as I do for my Christian friends, love and joy as you celebrate with your family and friends.

I would like to ask everyone today to please remember those who are away from their loved ones protecting our country and our freedoms and say a prayer for their safe return as soon as possible.

Happy holiday, thank you for being my friend!!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone. I'll be spending the day with the love of my life, Bill and my five little babies: Nano, Mia, Mumbo, Wiggles, and Mandie. The only thing that could make it better would be if my two boys were here.

I hope that you are all spending time with those you love. I ask that you take a moment today to remember our troops and their families who are separated from each other and pray that they are soon home safely.

I will try very hard to get back to all of you that are so sweet enough to comment on my post. In honor of Valentine's Day tomorrow, today's theme is AMORE' (True Love). So pick whatever songs are on your mind, write up your post and share with us because we love music and we love you all.

I dedicate the following songs to the love of my life, the man who changed the world for me when he came into my life and made everything wonderful. Yes, we have had our ups and downs, fortunately the downs have been few, and we have gotten through them together with love, hard work, and a LOT of laughter.

So, my darling Bill, thank you for everything you have done for me, been to me, and continue to do and be. I will love you until the day I die.

Can't Help Falling in Love ~ Elvis Presley (You knew he'd be here!)

Declaration of Love ~ Celine Dion

I'll Be There for You ~ Bon Jovi

This last song is a silly, sexy song that both Bill and I like to sing when we are just being funny. We both love Bryan Adams and have seen him twice in concert and it was excellent. This video is AWESOME as it stars the actors from one of our favorite Syfy shows Warehouse 13. Hope you enjoy it... While there is no foul language, it really isn't for little ears.

I Wanna Be Your Underwear ~ Bryan Adams
