The Muppets are Coming! The Muppets are Coming!

It's been 11 years since the Muppets have been on the big screen and boy have I missed them. However, lucky for all of us.... thanks to writer/producer Jason Segel (who will also star in the film) and director James Bobin, we wont have to wait much longer to see our favorites Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Animal, Gonzo and the whole gang in a new big screen adventure.

"On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets' former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. With secret, signature, celebrity cameos, “The Muppets” hits the big screen Nov. 23, 2011."
To learn more about the Muppets and keep up to date about the upcoming movie, you can follow them on Facebook and Twitter or check out their website.

Global Resort Homes Vacation Home Facebook Giveaway!

.
If you recall, during my Brandcation getaway, I had the wonderful privilege of staying in one of the Global Resort Homes.  This is something that I HIGHLY recommend if you are going to be coming down to to the central Florida area!  There are many places to chose from to stay a while in the area if you are not going to stay on the Disney propery, and having a home to yourself where you can cook for yourself and do your own laundry is wonderful!

Right now on their Facebook page, you could WIN a 7-night stay at one of their gorgeous homes, along with TONS of other really wonderful extras. Head on over to the Facebook page to see the video, with my wonderful friend Tara who braved the horribly cold weather we've been having down here, that explains everything you could win and what you need to do to enter.

It really is simple, all you need to do is "Like" Global Resort Homes on Facebook and  post "I would love a free stay from Global Resort Homes" on their wall, plus, tell them that I sent you, and if you win, I get a $50 AMEX gift card, thanks.

How easy is that???

So, head on over and good luck, the winner will be drawn Dec. 21st! Plus, if you win, let me know because when you come down, I'd love to have lunch with you!

Orlando Look Out for My Bloggy Friends

Thanks to these spectacular ladies: Trisha of Momdot, Kim of What's That Smell and Nicole of Good Golly Miss Blondie,  the first weekend of November, 35 absolutely fabulous bloggers will be descending on the Orlando area for an adventure known as Brandcation... and I have the pleasure of being one of those women.  WooHoo!!!

This small group of women will be participating in an event arranged to be beneficial to both the sponsors and the bloggers, while there are no formal classes, we will be able to have real life conversations with each other in an environment conducive to learning and growing, and of course, tons of fun.

I would like to show you the amazingly gorgeous accommodations that are being provided to us through Global Resort Homes.  I am SO thankful to them for providing us with four fabulous houses to stay in throughout the entire time we are there.  Here is the house that I will be sharing with 8 super bloggers, including a hero of mine - Kim, all of whom I cannot wait to meet in person:

How amazing is that house??? I cannot wait to attend this event... keep your eyes on my blog for posts about what else we have planned to do and for tweets, posts and of course photos while we are attending the event.

Thank you so much, again to Global Resort Homes for your outstanding generosity! HUGS!!!

{You can also check out Global Resort Homes on Facebook, please go over and check them out.  Thanks!}

Help Save French Vanilla at Baskin Robbins

As I mentioned in my post yesterday about National Ice Cream Day, Baskin Robbins has decided to discontinue a treasured iconic flavor, French Vanilla... which I think is totally ridiculous.  It is one of the original flavors that was introduced by Irv Robbins and Burt Baskin in 1945.

Well, today I discovered that there is a Facebook page dedicated to saving this wonderful flavor.  Here is their mission: "To gather enough support to convince Baskin-Robbins that they must keep French Vanilla around, and save it from the dreaded Deep Freeze."

So, if you are a fan of French Vanilla, or just think it is a ridiculous idea, head on over to the Facebook page and let Baskin Robbins know that they are making a huge mistake!  Thanks for letting me kvetch!

Until next time..... Lorie

A Trip to the Magic Kingdom

On May 16th Bill and I were lucky enough to meet one of my Twitter friends Barb S. (@winterbabe98) and her family at The Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World for an afternoon of sunshine, laughter, and lots of fun sprinkled with Disney Magic!

Here is Barb with Wendy and Peter Pan... she was so excited to see them, she was just like a little kid.  Kind of like I get when I see Mickey Mouse.  I so love that Disney World can turn adults into little kids at the drop of a hat, it is definitely "The Happiest Place on Earth."   {Check out the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World For Grown-Ups (Unofficial Guides) if your not sure what to do at Disney World if you don't have children.}

We of course, rode The Pirates of the Caribbean {I mean, come on, a chance for me to see Johnny Depp - even in animatronics!}; and we went to the Haunted Mansion and the Jungle Cruise {corny jokes and all} because it is still a great ride and a chance to sit down and get a cool breeze.  We also went into Mickey's Philharmagic ~ everybody has to love those 3-D plus shows, they are really amazing.  Barb's son Steven went on Space Mountain, but Barb and I didn't due to our similar spinal issues.

And we did LOTS of talking and laughing... it was like Barb and I had known each other forever, and Barb's husband Steve and Bill got along really great!  Not to mention that their son Steven is an absolute joy!  That is my FAVORITE thing about social networking, the people you meet online you really get to know and become just like family {sometimes even closer}.  You learn all about them, their spouses, children, etc., and you start to care very deeply about them and what happens to each and every one of them.  So, thank you Barb for the terrific afternoon we got to spend together - and both Bill & I are looking forward to doing it again soon.

I also hope that those of you whom I have met online through Facebook, Twitter and blogging who come down to central Florida and are headed near Disney World, please, let me know, I would love to spend a day with you and your family, because isn't that what Social Networking is all about?  Connecting!

{L to R: Steven, Bill, me and Barb}

Until next time..... Lorie

Conversations from Afghanistan

Specialist PFC Nikolaus W. Murowsky.....

I was lucky enough to talk via Facebook to my son Nik today over in Afghanistan. He is doing well; lonely, cold, and some lousy creep stateside got a hold of his debit card number and stole $400 from him, but otherwise he is OK. He wants me to send him snacks and books. He laughed when he said books, because as he said it, he mentioned that he had just read his first book (one with over 300 pages he added) since 8th grade.

I sent on all the wonderful wishes that you have all given me for him and he wanted me to thank you all on behalf of himself and his unit. So I'll be sending a care package to him soon and if you'd like me to send any wishes, let me know - I'll print out your messages and send them along to him and his unit. I just want to thank you all for your support of our family, it really does make this time so much easier. Love to you all!

Until next time..... Lorie
