Today our local Irish Pub, Shannons, had their Half-Way to St. Patrick's Day Celebration, and of course, since Bill and I are both of Irish decent, we HAD to attend.
Bill had the corned beef and cabbage, naturally; and I had the most delicious salad with crab meat, shrimp and smoked salmon. We both had a Guinness, which the have on tap -- woohoo -- can't stand that stuff in bottles. We got hooked on it when we were in Ireland during our honeymoon. We spend 12 glorious days there when we got married driving around the gorgeous countryside visiting old castles, abbeys, cemeteries, and of course restaurants and pubs. We stayed in the most wonderful bed and breakfasts and got recommendations from the proprietors for where to shop, visit and eat, because we knew they would know the BEST places. They never steered us wrong. Anyway, back to tonight... After dinner, we had dessert, too. Bill had one of his favorites: bread and butter pudding. I took a bite, it was scrumptious (except for the raisins - I don't like cooked raisins). I had the most sinful dessert: Chocolate Decadence Cake... OMG it was to DIE for!! It was so moist and just the right size, served with a sliced strawberry and whipped cream, but not too sweet at all, just PERFECT.
The pub was going to have music later tonight at 9:30, but Bill was still a little tired from his procedure last night so we didn't stay. We ate outside on the patio which wasn't too crowded at the time we went (around 7:00), but the bar area inside was PACKED, and even more so when we left around 8:00.
So, Happy Half-Way to St. Patrick's Day everyone, hope you had a wonderful day.
Until next time..... Lorie

Now that's a first - a Halfway to ST. Patrick's Party! But a great reason to celebrate and have some corned beef and cabbage. I make that every year on March 17. I just love it.
Stopping by from SITS.
