By now I am sure that you all know about the devastating earthquake in Haiti which has killed (at last count) around 500,000 with up to 3,000,000 other people being affected in some other way.
A simple way you can help the relief effort is to get out your cell phone and text the word HAITI to 90999. That will automatically donate $10 to the American Red Cross and charge it to your phone bill. If you prefer to contact the American Red Cross directly, call (800) RED-CROSS (733-2767).
There are other organizations that the State Department has endorsed that you can donate to online:
~ New Missions Earthquake Reconstruction Fund
~ American Red Cross Mid-Florida Region
~ Mercy Corps
~ World Vision

As relief efforts spring to aid of earthquake victims in Haiti, the FBI has issued a warning to be careful which organizations you entrust with your donation.
In a press release Wednesday, the FBI said tragedies and natural disasters in the past have prompted cases of fraud from people and groups looking to take advantage of your generosity .
Please do what you can, while watching out for the horrible people who will be out there trying to steal from you. God bless those lost in this terrible tragedy and those left behind trying to rebuild.
Until next time..... Lorie

This just broke my heart. My prayers are with all of them.
Much love to you for posting this!
I was watching CNN last night, and seeing the one reporter in the hospital show the body of a toddler who didn't make it before being seen, covered up with a sheet, broke me. Those people need help, and I hear, it's going to be a long haul because the working airport is hours away, across Haiti to the North.
Gosh, it's just so sad! Thanks for letting us know how we can help.
Yes, I've sent my check in to The Red Cross!
I forgot to say on the other post that I know you're so proud of your son and you should be! :)
The news coverage is so devastating, but as hard as it is for us to watch it, I am sure that being there is is horrendous. I wish there was more that I could do. Watching all those people on the streets, all the hungry babies and the people dying because of broken bones is just sad.
God be with the people of Haiti.
