Ruby Tuesday - Sept. 22, 2009

Happy Ruby Tuesday everyone. My contribution comes from one of our walks with the dog around the neighborhood. It is a gorgeous hummingbird feeder. Too bad there wasn't a hummingbird there, too:

You really need to go over to Maria's Space this week to see her gorgeous photo, it is one of her beautiful creations of jewelry! Plus, don't forget to link your Ruby Tuesday creation up to Mary's blog at Work of the Poet.

Until next time..... Lorie

The Simple Woman's Daybook - Sept. 21, 2009

Hosted by Peggy at The Simple Woman's Daybook.

FOR TODAY

Outside my window ~ Sunshine and the UPS man, Nano thinks he got a package. He thinks everything is for him... but it is for Mommy!! Yippee...

I am thinking ~ Something has to be done about our health insurance crisis, I am still waiting to hear about my actual physical therapy... I was only approved for an evaluation, NO actual treatment!

I am thankful for ~ Bill's improving health -- FINALLY!!

From the kitchen ~ I made delicious boneless/skinless chicken two days ago, and we were able to make two meals from it, along with rice and fresh sliced tomatoes.

I am wearing ~ shorts, bare feet (as usual) and the Psyche t-shirt that I won.

I am creating ~ my first giveaway... how exciting!!

I am going ~ to the 250th Anniversary party of Guinness at the local pub in town, Shannon's on Thursday... "To Arthur!"

I am reading ~ Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein"

I am hoping ~ to that physiotherapy will help my back feel a little better.

I am hearing ~ Jeopardy, and doing pretty good tonight!

Around the house ~ WAY too much laundry!!

One of my favorite things - new chocolate cookies from Keebler with coconut... mmmmm!

A few plans for the rest of the week ~ besides the Guinness party, on Friday the Food & Wine fest at WDW in EPCOT center.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing: After I gave my "baby" a bath, I had him wrapped up in a towel to dry him off and keep him warm from the air conditioner and cuddled up in my arms. Then he and I proceded to fall asleep on the couch... The Hubs couldn't resist taking our picture, because he said we looked so cute and he "just loves us so much", isn't he the best?

"I chose yellow for this photo meme because it's my favourite colour and I think the world is always better with a splash of yellow ... whether it's in your home or in nature. "

Half-Way to St. Patrick's Day

Today our local Irish Pub, Shannons, had their Half-Way to St. Patrick's Day Celebration, and of course, since Bill and I are both of Irish decent, we HAD to attend.

Bill had the corned beef and cabbage, naturally; and I had the most delicious salad with crab meat, shrimp and smoked salmon. We both had a Guinness, which the have on tap -- woohoo -- can't stand that stuff in bottles. We got hooked on it when we were in Ireland during our honeymoon. We spend 12 glorious days there when we got married driving around the gorgeous countryside visiting old castles, abbeys, cemeteries, and of course restaurants and pubs. We stayed in the most wonderful bed and breakfasts and got recommendations from the proprietors for where to shop, visit and eat, because we knew they would know the BEST places. They never steered us wrong. Anyway, back to tonight... After dinner, we had dessert, too. Bill had one of his favorites: bread and butter pudding. I took a bite, it was scrumptious (except for the raisins - I don't like cooked raisins). I had the most sinful dessert: Chocolate Decadence Cake... OMG it was to DIE for!! It was so moist and just the right size, served with a sliced strawberry and whipped cream, but not too sweet at all, just PERFECT.

The pub was going to have music later tonight at 9:30, but Bill was still a little tired from his procedure last night so we didn't stay. We ate outside on the patio which wasn't too crowded at the time we went (around 7:00), but the bar area inside was PACKED, and even more so when we left around 8:00.

So, Happy Half-Way to St. Patrick's Day everyone, hope you had a wonderful day.

Until next time..... Lorie

Bitch & Moan Friday - Sept. 18, 2009

Fairy Blog Mother

Annette over at Fairy Blog Mother has started Bitch & Moan Friday. In her words to "vent your frustrations, bitch about your hubby, your job, that you ran out of dog food. No gripe is excluded. Anything that irritated you this week...bitch and moan about it!"

Here's my contribution for today....

~ Here's a two-fer with regard to hospitals... Why the hell do they have to keep them so COLD. I know that they say it's because germs don't "like" the cold and cannot live well in the cold, but come on... us humans DO like to be a bit warm. Also, when you are scheduled for an appointment to see a doctor or surgeon, WHY do they make you wait for HOURS before the actually SEE you? Why even bother to make an appointment?

~ I really hate that I've been so damn busy this week that I didn't get a chance to do any of my photo memes this week. I really did have some great pictures, oh well... there's always next week... maybe!!

~ I'm so sick of incompetent people... if you are lucky enough to have a job in this economy, why don't you do your best at it? People who think that they are there for you and that you NEED them so they don't have to be nice to you, really burn my butt! I know this is a lot like my customer service rant last week, but it happened again this week. Same stupid idiot from the doctors office, doesn't return phone calls, then gives me attitude when I call her again. You know, if you did your job right the first time, I wouldn't have to call you back. Then, the DOCTOR screwed up after Bill's procedure yesterday.... first he gave him pain meds that Bill couldn't take, because with his liver disease, he cannot have anything with Tylenol anymore. So when I asked for a new prescription, good ole' Doc wrote one for a medication in a strength the DOESN'T EXIST! Of course, it is a narcotic pain med, so I need to have a written prescription (it can't be called it or faxed, damn), and of course the doctor has already LEFT the hospital and his office is in the next town. AAARRRGG!! (Fortunately I still have some left over from his gallbladder surgery) Lucky for that stupid (damn insurance company that doesn't have any other urologists) doctor!!

~ I really hate people who create computer viruses .... I think they are just plain MEAN!!

~ What is it with people who go speeding through residential neighborhoods? The speed limit in our community is 25mph, however some people find it necessary to drive through doing 40mph (while on the phone no less). We have LOTS of kids in the area and lots of people who walk their dogs (yours truly included). I mean, WTF, are you TRYING to kill someone? Where are you in such a hurry to go???? Especially in MY neighborhood..... (BORING)

OK, I'm done for now..... Your turn.

Grab the button and link up your Bitch and Moan blog post over at

Until next time..... Lorie

Thought for the Day

In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird.
