I Signed Up for SocialSpark!

Most of you who read my blog know that I am disabled and that I use my blog as my social outlet for friendship and information on current events. I have also been trying to use it to earn a little money since times are tough and both my husband and I are on Social Security. ('Nuff said.....).

I recently learned about different ways to monetize my blog through my friend Crystal's blog Simply Being Mommy and one of the ways she mentioned was
SocialSpark (I just found up my good friend Maria of Maria's Space has also signed up for Social Spark). This is a site where you can..... are you ready..... get paid to write on your blog about things you love!!! Can you imagine that? It is something I already do, and now I may be able to get paid for it. I was so excited that I couldn't believe it, so I went over to the site to see how to sign up and read it over again. It's true - you can get paid to write on your blog - some posts pay as little at $5 and some pay up to $100. It really depends on the advertiser and their budget, as well as your page rank and writing skills. You get paid via your PayPal account and you can even donate some of your payments to charity. There is of course a code of ethics* to follow, but I wouldn't want to be part of any social organization that wasn't ethical!

If you are interested in making some money by doing what you already love to do on your blog, head on over to SocialSpark to see what it is all about like I did, you may be pleasantly surprised, I know I was and I cannot wait to get started trying to help out my family's financial situation.

Until next time..... Lorie

Benefit Starring Comedian Maryellen Hooper

This is information for a benefit for a little boy in my community named Noah. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in October there will be a benefit at Celebration High School with nationally known comedian Maryellen Hooper. I've seen Maryellen Hooper perform and she is hysterical! She performs regularly in Vegas and has been on the Jay Leno show numerous times.

Please join us on Wednesday, April 14th at 7:00PM at Celebration High School for this very worthy event. All money from ticket sales will go directly to Noah's family to help pay for his escalating medical costs. If you have anything you'd like to donate such as a service, gift certificate, timeshare stay, etc. it would be much appreciated. Please contact Tracey Prever directly (photos@traceyprever.com) about silent auction items. The high school can hold 600 people in the auditorium and we would love for that to happen.

Tickets are $20 per person and are available at the door.

To keep updated on Noah’s progress head to http://www.jedinoah.wordpress.com

About Noah…

Noah just turned 6 years old on Sept. 19, 2009. He had the coolest Lego Star Wars birthday party ever! If they had a “who can build a Lego Star Wars ship the fastest” contest…Noah would win, hands down. That’s because, “The force is very strong with this one.”

Aside from being everyone’s best friend and or husband at school, Noah finished up all his Kindergarten work in record time and was moved to the first grade class at Celebration Montessori.

When Noah’s not playing with his sister, Landin or building Star Wars Legos…he’s making his Mom and Dad laugh by saying “The darnedest things”.

On Oct. 29, 2009 Noah’s life was rudely interrupted by a Medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor.

Since it took enough medicine to knock out 6 grown men to put Noah to sleep for his operation…I’m thinking this disease doesn’t know who it’s up against! My money’s on Noah.

ABOUT THE BENEFIT

“Laughter Heals” A night of music, comedy and compassion is happening on April 14, 2010. The Celebration High School has generously donated it’s 600 seat auditorium for this amazing event. And volunteers are ready to do “Whatever we can to help Noah”.

The event starts at 7pm with a silent auction and music provided by local cover band, “Channel Z”. At 8pm the Comedy begins with Ventriloquist, Lynn Trefzger. Lynn is one of the stars of the newly released documentaries, “I’m No Dummy”. She headlines colleges, clubs and is a regular star performer on Disney’s cruise line.

Lynn shares the stage with nationally touring, award-winning headliner, Maryellen Hooper. Maryellen has been on all the late night shows including several appearances with Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show”. She’s had her own special on Comedy Central and just finished shooting her latest comedy special, “Stinky Flowers”.

All the entertainers have donated their performances for this incredibly worthy cause.

Nano's Second Birthday

Saturday the 27th was Nano's 2nd birthday and boy did he celebrate in style - would you expect anything else for my baby??? We were so excited to have Nano's mama, Mia (yea, we were singing that song all weekend, too) over for a sleep-over. Our friend Tyna who is the one who gave us Nano and still has Mia also brought lots of birthday presents for him and baked chicken for the doggies along with t-bone steaks for Bill and I for dinner. Tyna also brought a beautiful birthday cake - it tastes delicious and Nano & Mia love the frosting. We still have Mia at the house, she loves it here and we love having her here, we may even have her stay here forever.

The only problem we seem to have is that both Nano and Mia like to sleep with me and Bill. We have a wonderful bed set up for them on the floor of our bedroom, as you can see. It is soft and squishy (I find it comfy, myself), plus there are a few toys for them to play with if they get bored, but if you look at the other pictures, they both choose to sleep on our bed with us. It is only a queen size bed, not really even big enough for Bill & I... we're gonna need a bigger bed!

Until next time..... Lorie

Saturday 9: You're My Best Friend

This meme was begun by Crazy Sam, here are her words:

"Welcome to Saturday: 9 . What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love
memes, however, and here is today's meme!"

Saturday 9: You're My Best Friend

1. Outside of your romantic life, do you currently have a best friend? No. My best friend passed away about a year and a half ago.

2. Regarding your future, what is the best thing you could hope for? To have my son Nikolaus home in one piece from Afghanistan, better health for myself, and to have 50 more years with Bill in our new house.

3. Have you ever helped out a friend with basic needs, like rent or food? If yes. what did you do? Not that I can think of... I have donated food to charities.

4. If they re-instituted the draft (for both genders and your were of age) would you go, or would find some way out of it? Yes if I were healthy enough. (Right now, I am not, but if I were I would go.)

5. Tell us one thing you wish you hadn't let yourself do. I have no regrets, there are things that have happened to me that were really horrible, but they have all led me to where I am now: married to the most wonderful man in the world with the two greatest kids in the world.

6. Tell us about the last time you bragged. Every day when I talk about how great my kids are and how terrific my husband is to me and how lucky I am to have them.

7. What area are you wisest in? I'm not really a master of anything... I know a little bit about a lot of things. I read a lot and have tidbits of knowledge about several things. Bill says I a "plethora of useless trivia," but that is because I beat him at Jeopardy! all the time. :-)

8. Tell us about something that happened that at the time made you "full of yourself". When I went back to college as an adult (15 years after I graduated from high school) and had at 4.97 GPA and was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. My husband and kids came to the ceremony and were really proud of me and even put the announcement in the local paper with my photo. :-)

9. Has there ever been a time that you wanted to try something in the bedroom, but were afraid to ask? OK, even if I WAS afraid to ask my husband try something in the bedroom, do you actually think I would mention it HERE???

That's it for this weeks
Saturday 9. Don't forget to link your post and visit the other participants. Have a wonderful week.

Ruby Tuesday: Signs of Spring

Welcome to Ruby Tuesday.....

While walking Nano around the neighborhood the other day, we saw these signs of spring and I just had to take some pictures. I don't know what they are called, so if anyone knows what they are, let me know. I just loved the color and the feather-like look of the "leaves." Hope you enjoy the photos:

Mommy and Me Monday

Mommy and Me Monday at Really, Are You Serious?

Welcome to Mommy and Me Monday begun by Krystyn at Really, Are You Serious? It is a way to showcase yourself with your babies... or as in my case my "fur-baby" {Krystyn said it was OK, she told me.} Krystyn explains that there are almost no pictures of the mommies with the kids, so this meme is meant to rectify that. Here is my submission for this week...
Saturday, March 27th is Nano's 2nd birthday so I wanted to share pictures of him then and now. Look how tiny he was, plus he had a bunch of curls and only weighed about 3 pounds.

Now he has long luxurious hair and weighs about 7 pounds, but is still mommy's little boy.

Make sure you like up your post to Krystyn's blog and head over and check out all of the other Mommy and Me Monday posts and leave them some comment love.

Until next time..... Lorie
