Life Explained......

.

On the first day, God created the dog and said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years."

The dog said, "That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?"

And God saw it was good.

On the second day, God created the monkey and said, "Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span."

The monkey said, "Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?"

And God, again saw it was good.

On the third day, God created the cow and said, "You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years."

The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?"

And God agreed it was good.

My Uncle Ray and My Dad (Don), his younger brother

On the fourth day, God created humans and said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years."

But the human said, "Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?"

"Okay," said God, "You asked for it."

So that is why for our first twenty years, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.  Hope you enjoy your 80 years..... and then some!

Tearful Family Reunion with Dog they Thought was Dead

.

I saw this on the web earlier and it moved me so much that I had to share it with all of you.

The ASPCA is one of the charities that I donate to every year, unfortunately the amount has gotten a little smaller each year, but I still try to find a way to help, even if it's only with a bag of dog food.

If you are considering getting a dog for your family, PLEASE consider adopting - you can save a life and receive the love of a lifetime - I know we have!

I received this adorable email from a friend today and just had to share it with you all.

These pictures were taken in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The owner of the home, and cat,  said: "It's just too awesome not to share."

Hope you enjoyed this little bit of love today... I think it is lovely!

Silly Joke of the Day ~ It's OK, You Really Don't Have to Laugh

.

A woman brought a very limp duck into a veterinary surgeon. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest. After a moment or two, the vet shook his head and sadly said, "I'm sorry, your duck, Cuddles, has passed away."

The distressed woman wailed, "Are you sure?"

"Yes, I am sure. Your duck is dead," replied the vet.

"How can you be so sure?" she protested. "I mean you haven't done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something."

The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the room. He returned a few minutes later with a black Labrador Retriever. As the duck's owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the duck from top to bottom. He then looked up at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head. The vet patted the dog on the head and took it out of the room.

A few minutes later he returned with a cat. The cat jumped on the table and also delicately sniffed the bird from head to foot. The cat sat back on its haunches, shook its head, meowed softly and strolled out of the room.

The vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry, but as I said, this is most definitely, 100% certifiably, a dead duck."

The vet turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill, which he handed to the woman. The duck's owner, still in shock, took the bill. "$150!" she cried, "$150 just to tell me my duck is dead!"

The vet shrugged, "I'm sorry. If you had just taken my word for it, the bill would have been $20, but with the Lab Report and the Cat Scan, it's now $150."

Real Life Bambi and Thumper

Being the HUGE Disney fan that I am, when I saw this photo on The Daily Squee I had to post it and share with all my other Disney fans. It is so reminiscent of the movie Bambi.

Here is the scene in Bambi which it reminded me:

I love Disney movies, I have them all and even though the boys are all grown up, some days I still watch them all by myself and remember the days when they were little, sitting on my lap watching with me.  Alex called me the other day to let me know that he was watching "The Fox and the Hound" - his favorite Disney movie and was remembering when we used to watch it together when he was little. Disney really does bring families together.

October Is Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month!

According to the ASPCA website, "October is Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month, and that means it’s time to pay tribute to all things canine and get more homeless pups into forever homes. To get the party started, we’ve prepared a special section on ASPCA.org devoted to the lovable, loyal shelter pooch. Whether you’re an experienced dog guardian or are thinking about adopting in the future, this is the place to celebrate and find answers to all your questions about shelter dogs.

Learn how to find the right dog for you, use our nationwide search tool to find him, and then read all about how to keep him happy, healthy and entertained for the duration of your lives together! And aspiring Spielbergs, take note: you can make your pup a star by entering our Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month video contest! You have plenty of time to produce your masterpiece—the deadline for submissions is October 31.

Head over to aspca.org/ASDM to read all about it, and remember—there are millions of wonderful, adorable shelter dogs in our country who need homes, so please opt to adopt!"

As many of you know, we have rescued a dog recently and have completely fallen in love with her. Here is our little love Mandie:

If you can find it in your heart and home, head on over to the ASPCA and save a life today.  If you are not able to take a dog into your home, please give what you can from the heart.  Thank you!

I Will Be Busy This Week

I hope you will forgive me if I don't post too often this week of fall behind on my visits to your blogs and returning emails (if you even get them at all).  You see, I will be really busy this week:

You all know the two on the left, Nano and Lady Mia, the three on the right are: Mumbo, Mai-Li, and Mila... they belong to a very good friend of mine who had a family emergency and had to go out of town, so I am dog-sitting for a week.  The are the sweetest and cutest little loves (next to my two, of course) you could ever know, but I am amazed at the extra work involved in taking care of them.  They are also not house trained, so I am trying to do that also... yeah, fun!  :-)  But look at those faces, how could I say no?

So, wish me luck and forgive me for being absent, oh, and expect LOTS of photos in the near future, I have been taking tons, they have stolen my heart!

Until next time..... Lorie

Silly Joke From My Hubby

There was a snail who wanted to be a Formula One racing driver. He went to the track and asked if he could drive. The racing team manager said, "Yes, but you can't have a number on your car, you can only have an 'S' because you are a snail."

 Snail

The snail was ok with this, so he entered the race. The race started and the snail's car was at the back, but suddenly he sped to the front, overtaking all the cars to win! As the spectators saw the snail speed past them, they yelled, "Wow! Look at that s-car go!"
