Saturday9: Hurts So Good

This meme was begun by Crazy Sam, here are her words:

"Welcome to Saturday: 9 . What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!"

Saturday 9: Hurts So Good

1. Tell us about the last time you really got hurt. Eight years ago when I was assaulted. It has been the cause of all my spinal problems and some serious mental problems.

2. What's your oldest possession? I have a teddy bear that my grandmother gave me when I was born. It has had a "music box-ectomy" and has lost a lot of fuzz from all the love over the 44 years I have owned it.

3. Do you have any phobias? Oh, man yes!! Too many to list - I am medicated, see question #1.

4. What values did your parents instill in you? Not gonna go there... they had some serious religious issues and I also had problems with my dad (he was an abuser).

5. What are your plans for Easter? It's just me and Bill (and of course, the puppies), we are going to The Hyatt Regency at Grand Cypress for Champagne Brunch.

6. I like sun more than snow. Um, that's nice... is there a question there?????

7. Tell us about 3 fads from your teenage years. 1. Stone-washed skin-tight jeans; 2. High-heels with jeans; and 3. "Feathered" hair... and yes, I sported them ALL!! :-)

8. Tell us what is the most important attribute in a lover. Kindness!

9. What new piece of technology have you resisted buying and what would it take for you to change your mind? We are pretty up to date with technology (don't really want an iPad)... The newest thing out there that we would like to get is a 3-D HD LCD TV, but they are way too new and way too expensive. We will wait until there are more movies and shows available to watch on it and more sets available from different companies.

That's it for this weeks Saturday 9. Don't forget to link your post and visit the other participants. Have a wonderful week and a very Happy Easter weekend.

Saturday 9: You're My Best Friend

Saturday 9: You're My Best Friend

1. Outside of your romantic life, do you currently have a best friend? No. My best friend passed away about a year and a half ago.

2. Regarding your future, what is the best thing you could hope for? To have my son Nikolaus home in one piece from Afghanistan, better health for myself, and to have 50 more years with Bill in our new house.

3. Have you ever helped out a friend with basic needs, like rent or food? If yes. what did you do? Not that I can think of... I have donated food to charities.

4. If they re-instituted the draft (for both genders and your were of age) would you go, or would find some way out of it? Yes if I were healthy enough. (Right now, I am not, but if I were I would go.)

5. Tell us one thing you wish you hadn't let yourself do. I have no regrets, there are things that have happened to me that were really horrible, but they have all led me to where I am now: married to the most wonderful man in the world with the two greatest kids in the world.

6. Tell us about the last time you bragged. Every day when I talk about how great my kids are and how terrific my husband is to me and how lucky I am to have them.

7. What area are you wisest in? I'm not really a master of anything... I know a little bit about a lot of things. I read a lot and have tidbits of knowledge about several things. Bill says I a "plethora of useless trivia," but that is because I beat him at Jeopardy! all the time. :-)

8. Tell us about something that happened that at the time made you "full of yourself". When I went back to college as an adult (15 years after I graduated from high school) and had at 4.97 GPA and was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. My husband and kids came to the ceremony and were really proud of me and even put the announcement in the local paper with my photo. :-)

9. Has there ever been a time that you wanted to try something in the bedroom, but were afraid to ask? OK, even if I WAS afraid to ask my husband try something in the bedroom, do you actually think I would mention it HERE???

That's it for this weeks

Saturday 9: Your Smiling Face

This meme was begun by Crazy Sam, here are her words:

"Welcome to Saturday: 9 . What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love
memes, however, and here is today's meme!"

1. No matter what's going on in your life, what always makes you smile? Being with the most wonderful man in the world... my hubby, Bill and my puppy, Nano.

2. What's the biggest lie you've ever told? None of your damn business... actually I don't really lie. I've told those "little white lies" to people, you know, I tell people that they look great when they really don't look that good - stuff like that. But in general, I don't lie... I can't really do it, I don't have the stomach or the face for it.

3. Do you hold a grudge? Yes, I have been hurt REALLY bad by a few people and have been jaded by it. I wish I could change that about myself.

4. What is the worst job you've ever had? I worked for an Orthopaedic Surgeon who had a horrible attitude and would fly off the handle and scream at me for no reason - and he would do that in front of my co-workers and patients. He eventually got let go from the practice.

5. What would be your dream job? I have it already - I am a kept woman...

6. What is the happiest event you've experienced? Aside from the birth of my children, it was finding my soulmate and best friend, Bill - after I thought I would never trust another man or fall in love again.

7. What is the saddest thing you've experienced? The death of my best friend
Sue... She was way too young to die and always there when I needed her.

8. Do you tend to exaggerate or underestimate? Yes... both, especially when it comes to distances between places. I always get it wrong, Bill is so much better at it than I am.

9. List the cars that you have owned. Give us just a few words about each one.

This covers the years 1982 - Present

~ Ford LTD Station Wagon (? year): Had to share this one with my mom

~ Ford Pinto (? year): Piece of crap - dad was a used car dealer

~ Chrysler Big ole Thing (1982 used): Got rear-ended on the highway 6 months after new (ex)husband and I got it. I got hurt and was out of work for 3 months and got pregnant.

~ Mitsubishi 626 (1987): My very first new car ever - got totally ripped off by salesman, boy did he see us coming, totalled in a rear-end collision (I was not driving) in 1992 but we still owed on it.

~ Ford Escort Station Wagon (1992): I loved the color, cherry red

~ Ford F-150 Crew Cab (1994): I loved this truck, but lost it in the divorce and ended up with...

~ Toyota Camry (1990): The Camry from HELL... had problems from the start, took 4 trips to the garage to finally fix it, but by then I'd had enough!

~ Nissan SUV (1999 Lease x2yrs): Really nice car and a beautiful shade of green

~ Nissan Frontier Crew Cab Pick-up (2001 Lease x2yrs): Another great vehicle, worked really good in the snow, but the truck bed was too small

~ Jaguar XJ-8 (2000): My dream car... The one I drive now (hubby has a VW Bug). It is the same color as my eyes, which is why my darling husband got it for me (we bought it used). His friend is a dealer/mechanic who knew I wanted one and went to an auction to find it for me. I LOVE my car!!

(I'm just like Annette at Fairy Blog Mother, I'm a Car Whore, Oh My!!)

Saturday 9: Don't Stand So Close to Me

This meme was begun by Crazy Sam, here are her words:

"Welcome to Saturday: 9 . What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Saturday 9: Don't Stand So Close to Me

1. Who would you like not to stand so close to you? Everyone - I have Social Anxiety Disorder, I don't really like to be around anyone.

2. Which of the following aspects of your life would you think rates the highest: mind, body or spirit? Mind - it's also the one that is the most screwed up! :-)

3. What is your favorite movie line? Just ONE??? There are so many... and for so many situations:

"Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!"
"After all tomorrow is another day."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Get your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!"

4. What is your favorite movie title? I love the title: "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" - the movie itself was really silly, but the title is funny.

5. What is something that has happened to you that you would consider a miracle? The fact that I am still alive, trusted another man enough to fall in love and get married a second time.

6. What do you try to stay away from? Large crowds, men, being alone, small spaces, heights, and spiders. [That's what I can think of right now.]

7. What is it too late for? Me ever finishing nursing school... I got hurt halfway through and the neurosurgeon told me I would never be a nurse because of the permanent damage to my spine. [Not to mention the mental damage.]

8. Give someone credit for something and name it if you can. My Freshman and Sophomore science (Biology and Chemistry) teacher in high school - really increased my interest in science, math and medicine which was NOT the norm for girls at that time, making me really want to be a doctor.

9. Would you rather be famous now & forgotten after you die or forgotten now & famous after you die, forever? And why? Neither... I want to have made a difference in the lives of my children; raised them to be caring, loving young men who leave the world a better place; and be remembered by them as someone who loved them with my whole being, heart and soul. I don't care what the rest of the world thinks of me.

Saturday 9: Everybody is a Star 1/30/10

This meme was begun by Crazy Sam, here are her words:

"Welcome to Saturday: 9 . What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Saturday 9: Everybody is a Star

1. Did you ever think that you'd be a star? If yes, doing what? Never.. I had (and still do have) self-esteem issues.

2. Tell us about the last time you had a romantic dinner. New Year's Eve - I made my hubby his favorite meal at home and we snuggled on the couch watching a movie, until we watched tha ball drop and had champagne.

3. Tell us about your worst job interview. I've actually never had a bad interview... I'm pretty good at interviewing. I was really nervous about going on interviews after I left the job where my former boss had assaulted me (it took me 6 months to get the courage to go look for another job and I had to have my husband drive me and wait in the parking lot). After the interview, I got in the car, had hubby drive about 10 yards down the road, pull over, and then I threw up!!

4. Tell us about your stupidest date. I really didn't date much because of the restrictions my parents put on me. The first time I went out with my first husband alone (without a chaperone) was the day we got engaged. Then when Bill and I started "dating" he was 55 and I was 31, so it really wasn't dating.

5. How much in common do you think you should have with a romantic partner? Several things, but NOT everything. You need to have some differences so you have a little "spark" there. But you need to have the "biggies" in common: politics, religion, how many - if ANY - children you want to have (MOST important!!), things like that!

6. Tell us about a favorite meme that you loved but no longer posts. I haven't been blogging that long to know of any... the ones I like are still around.

7. How did you get into blogging? My hubby wanted me to enter some giveaways as a way to occupy my time while I was recovering from lumbar spine surgery as I lie on the couch. Then I started meeting WONDERFUl people, learning about memes, reviews, other peoples families, and I wanted to start posting about my life more. Now my husband says I am addicted, then I remind him it was all his fault, he just shakes his head and laughs.

8. Do you share all your fantasies with a significant other? Yes, and he shares his, it makes for some really fun conversations... :-)

9. What change in your life would you like to happen this year? Selling our current house, so we can build our dream house we have put a deposit on in the retirement community 30 minutes from here that is one-story and much easier on my spine. Plus, I want my son to come back from Afghanistan alive and in one piece, along with all the other deployed men and women.

Saturday 9: I Think We're Alone Now

This meme was begun by Crazy Sam, here are her words:

Saturday 9: I Think We're Alone Now

1. What celebrity in a fantasy would you like to be alone with? Johnny Depp (Didn't I answer this before???)

2. Have ever dated a good friend? Um, yes, I even married him! I think that worked out best.

3. What is the most embarrassing song that you like? I'm sure there are lots more, but the first one that comes to mind is "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" by Rupert Holmes.

4. What is your favorite tear jerker movie? "Beaches" with Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey

5. What about yourself makes you least secure? Myself - in general

6. Do you believe in destiny? No, I think we shape our own fate.

7. What 'issue' do you think your opinion is so right about that you end up trying to sway others to your point of view? The ridiculous amount of money that sports players are paid, then they dance around the field or court when they do their job (i.e. make a touchdown, basket, goal, or whatever) like they have just found the cure for cancer. I think they should take all that money, pay them a decent, livable salary, and give the rest of the money to: teachers, policemen, firemen and soldiers -- the TRUE heroes in our society!!

8. What are 5 things you don't care about? 1. Twitter; 2. Reality TV; 3. Baseball; 4. The Twilight Series (I know, shocking); and 5. Anything else vampire TV, movie, or book related.

9. Have you ever been in a situation where you weren't sure if you were seducing or being seduced? No... I know the difference, and know HOW to do the seducing, IF I want to.

Saturday 9: When We Was Fab

This meme was begun by Crazy Sam, here are her words:

"Welcome to Saturday: 9 . What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!"

Saturday 9: When We Was Fab

1. Is there a blog as far as its appearance goes that you think is the most fabulous? Annette at
Fairy Blog Mother has just redone her blog, and I am really liking the way it looks. I love the colors and her header is really eye catching. There are a lot that I like, but to be honest, hers is the one I thought of immediately after reading this question!

2. Do you like the look and the contents of your blogs? Um... Yeah, or I wouldn't be writing it.... DUH!

3. Have you ever thought what would happen to your blog in case you died? NO... that is just sick! Although now that you MADE me think of it, I hope my hubby would at least get someone to post what happened so people would know.

4. Has any particular blogger had a great impact on how you set up and write your blog? Crystal at
Simply Being Mommy (my very first follower and commenter), Maria at Maria's Space, Felicia at Go Graham Go, Piera at Jolly Mom, Shannon at The Mommy Files, and Jennifer at Eighty MPH Mom. They were all very encouraging and told me to keep writing what I liked and what I knew and that I was doing a good job. They were also there during some really rough times last year. (There have been other wonderful people who have been there also since - Alexis, Connie, Tami, Kaylen, Ryann, Paige - but the above ladies were there at the beginning.)

5. Would you want a fellow blogger to give you suggestions or criticism of what you write? Absolutely, but only if it is constructive, not if it is just tearing down something I have written - I don't think anybody would want that. That is exactly what
Crystal did when I first redid my blog, she helped me with repositioning things and gave me constructive advice on what she found worked and didn't work on her blog. (Thank you, my friend!)

6. Is the number of visitors each day to your blog important to you? No! {That is my head talking, my heart say "YES... don't you like me???"} I really only want people who truly like what I write and who are touched by my blog. {But come on, it's a pretty good blog, isn't it??}

7. What percentage of your readers do you think actual comment? A very small amount, I don't get that many comments. But, the ones I do get are really special and I love them all, I try to reply to each and every one.

8. Do you have a favorite blogger who does the memes that you participate in? I LOVE
Annette's answers on the memes -- she is SO hysterical an totally honest with her answers. I can always get a laugh from her blog. Maria also does great with her meme answers, and I love participating in her Self Portrait Sunday meme.

9. How often do you update your blog/site and why? I try to update at least once a day... but usually more than that. I like to write and share what is
going on in my life and what I find that is important or funny with the people who I consider my friends.

Saturday 9: Call Me

This meme was begun by Crazy Sam, here are her words:

"Welcome to Saturday: 9 . What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!"

1. Who is someone that phones you routinely that you never seem to be up to talk to, but you are not ready to push them out of your life? Since we got rid of our home phone, there really isn't anybody because we just didn't give them our cell phone number.

2. What is something that effects you deeply, to your core, no matter your mood or what else is going on in your life? Yes! [You didn't expect me to tell you, did you?]

3. Tell us of something that relaxes you and always makes you happy. Now there you go again, expect me to tell you something really personal like that... let me just say that it involves Bill, and NO, I WILL NOT go any further!!

4. If you could take the train from anywhere to anywhere, where would 'anywhere' be? I've always wanted to take a train across the USA - in one of those sleeper cars like you see in the old movies, where there is a dining car and everyone is all dressed up. It looks like a really romantic way to see the country.

5. If you could look into the future, how far down the road would you like to see? 10 years? 100 years? A million? I really don't want to see down the future that far at all, my hubby is a bit older than I am, 24 years to be precise, so I want to live in the moment with him - right here, right now!

6. Did you do your shopping online for this Christmas, how did it go? Did things come in on time? Any significant failures? ...and if you didn't, will you consider trying online shopping sometime this year? Yes, I did almost ALL my Christmas shopping online this year. I got a late start because of my surgery, and I got one package in the mail today, and I am still waiting for two back ordered items that are due within the next week. But that is OK, Bill knows that one thing is a pair of shoes that he wanted and the other thing is a pair of jammies for my doggie.

7. What people or projects are worth your time, money or effort? My family are worth all of the above at anytime they need me! Other than them, I think children and animals are important as well as the military and veterans; cancer research is also important to me, and the police department and Special Olympics.

8. Think back when you were in high school. Are you proud of the way you dressed, or do you wish you could go back and change it all? I sure do wish I could change it... I went to high school in the 80's but really wasn't "cool". I had a Princess Diana haircut but with naturally curly hair, it just didn't work - it stuck out in all the wrong places and didn't look right. I wore tight acid wash jeans and heals (minus the tatts):

I also wore the high heels with them, but I didn't put them on until I got to school, because my parents would have killed me if they knew. So I left the house in socks and sneakers, and changed on the bus. Then when I got to school, I also put on lots of baby blue eye shadow (all the way up to the eyebrow) and black eyeliner and mascara (which of course had to be washed off before getting home). Boy, was I hot - NOT!!!

9. Do any of your friends, family or co-workers know about your blogs? For those that do, did you tell them or have they stumbled upon it by themselves? Sure my friends do, and my two sons, my step-son & DIL and my SIL - I told them about it, and they subscribe. I have no idea if my mom or sisters do, they don't speak to me and I have had no contact with them in over three years. It wouldn't bother me if they knew about it or read my blog. I am proud of my writing and my photography. I've come a long way, baby!!

That's it for this weeks

3. What is the first book that you can remember reading by yourself as a child? The Three Billy Goats Gruff - I had it memorized because my sister had read it to me so many times.

4. What was the first rock concert that you attended? Beatlemania - 1982

6. What is the one thing that you wish the media would stop talking about? Michael Jackson and the WHOLE Jackson family!!!

[totally creepy]

7. If you could be part of any band, which one would it be and who would you be and why? I guess I'd like to be part of U2, I love their music, I love how they are socially active, and they are from Ireland - doesn't get any better than that!

8. Do you live close to your immediate family members? If not, how far away are they? No, they live in Connecticut and we live in Florida. With the exception of my children, that's OK with me. (That doesn't count Bill's family, just mine.)

9. Last seasonal question (promise): What did you do on New Year's Eve? We were supposed to go to a party but it got cancelled at the last minute - the host's son was hospitalized (doing better now), so we stayed home, I made Bill's favorite meal. We watched a movie, then the Twilight Zone marathon on SyFy until 11:45; turned over to ABC to watch the ball drop, had some bubbly then a kiss; walked the dog and were in bed by 12:30.... We are PARTY ANIMALS!!!

6. Have you ever had a scary stalker type? Yes!

7. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Listening to Christmas caroles while wrapping presents. Watching "It's a Wonderful Life" on Christmas Eve.

8. What are two activities you do after eating Thanksgiving Dinner? Watch football; fall asleep (doesn't everyone???).

9. What did your family do for Thanksgiving when you were a kid? Do you still do it? If not explain why. Nothing - I grew up in a religion that didn't celebrate Thanksgiving.

Saturday 9: Talking in Your Sleep

This meme was begun by Crazy Sam, here are her words:

"Welcome to Saturday: 9 . What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Saturday 9: Talking in Your Sleep

1. Has anyone in your life talked in their sleep? Yes, my older sister, Diane. She actually walked and talked in her sleep and my oldest sister, MaryJane and her friend used to torture her terribly by making her do things while she was sleeping, like take a shower and get ready for school on a Saturday morning at 2:30 AM.

2. What do you like about fall? The beginning of the holiday season.

3. Do you have an addictive personality? Yes

4. Who was the last person to do something extra special for you? The Hubs, he's such a sweetie-pie!

5. Would you ever take someone back if they cheated on you? I honestly don't know, I would like to think I could forgive, but I would also know that I would be so terribly hurt by it. I don't think anyone can really answer that question unless they have been in that situation. I know I cannot.

6. Are you happy with where you are in life? In some ways - yes, in some ways - no... I love my husband and children; we are having financial difficulties and I cannot stand that I am in pain every day.

7. Do you believe that you can change someone? No - People can only change themselves if they want to change.

8. Have you ever wished you could've had someone but you couldn't? Johnny Depp!

9. Would you ever fight someone over your significant other? Hell Yes!! He is the most wonderful man in the world, stay away from him, you bitch!! :-)

That's it for this weeks Saturday 9. Don't forget to link your post and visit the other participants. Have a wonderful week.

Until next time..... Lorie
