The Christmas Spirit in Action

.

Last Wednesday while out to dinner with Bill for my birthday - y'all did know it was my birthday, right? TeeHee - the most wonderful and amazing thing happened to me. I have this adorable button that Bill gave me that I always wear on my birthday that is just too silly, but it makes people smile (which you all know is my goal in life) and it usually gets me several birthday wishes from people.  You can see the button in the picture below:

Cute, isn't it? BTW, that is the outfit I wore to dinner... the necklace was Bill's gift to me, it has two bars with the words "Soul Mate" spelled out in the oldest Gaelic language in history. My shirt is a birthday gift from my SIL two years ago and my earrings are her gift to me this year... she is such a sweetheart.

So anyway, on to what happened at dinner, several dinners told me "happy birthday" and I got lots of smiles from others, one even wanted to give me her 2-year-old daughter as a "gift" just for a few years until she got out of the "stage" she was in. We both had a great laugh over that one. Then out of the blue, a lovely young woman who had been sitting with her family came over and said, "My mother wanted me to come over here and tell you happy birthday from all of us and give this to you, it has $10 on it." I looked in her hand and there was a Dunkin Donuts gift card. I was in shock... when I looked up to the family at the table, they all waved and said happy birthday and as I tried to decline the gift card, they would not hear of it. So I graciously accepted my birthday gift with a huge smile and a big thank you. When we were done with our dinner, I went over and gave everyone a big hug and told them how sweet I thought they were and how much it restored my faith in humanity and the Christmas spirit. It was the perfect way to end my birthday.

So, I wanted to share this wonderful story with all of you with a reminder to always "Pay it Forward" - that is what I intend to do... When I go to Dunkin Donuts to use my gift card, I plan on buying the person behind me a cup of coffee. So, "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus....." and he is residing right here in central Florida.

Merry Christmas everyone... Love and Huggles!

Oh I completely forgot to mention this before I hit publish. I was in the drive-thru with my two kids as I was in desperate need of a Starbucks coffee. The woman in front of me was taking some time and both she and the man at the drive-thru window kept looking back at me. It was kind of strange. Anyhow, when I got up to the window, the man at the drive-thru said that my coffee had been paid for by the previous customer with the message of "Happy Spring". That was so absolutely cool and blew my mind.

I definitely have been in the pay it forward state of mind since!
