When Bill and I were dating in 1995 and I was living on my own, he bought me a Hoover vacuum - romantic, huh? Actually, it was what I needed and I put it together myself with my Swiss Army knife. I remember my oldest son, who was 7 at the time, telling me that I needed "daddy's help" to do it, but was so impressed with me because I did it all on my own. It was a defining moment in my life - I had become an independent woman.
That vacuum was FABULOUS! We have used it continuously since then, and since we have had the doggies, we (or I should say Bill) has used it EVERY DAY.
This morning it died... it made a a horrible sound which scared the dogs, started to spark and smoke, then died. We are so sad... we don't know what to do. We have had, and still do, other vacuums - including Hoover vacs, but NONE have ever worked as well as this one. We cannot afford another one right now either and they don't even make this model anymore... I'm so sad. =( Any suggestions?

Save for a Dyson. It's disgusting what it pulled out of my carpet when we first got it, and we just have an area rug that I vacuumed a lot. I also like that it has a 7 year warranty because between shoddy craftsmanship and boys, we were burning through vacuums at the rate of one about every year to 18mos.
Oh no that blows!
I have a friend who swears by her Dyson and that's what i will get when I have enough saved up. I heard it's so worth it...
Awww :(
It's so strange how inanimate objects can have such a sentimental and powerful meaning in our lives. I really wish I could give you some vacuum-related knowledge, but we're having the same issue over here.
Good luck!
Ahhh sweetie :( I've gone threw so many. I swear they see me coming and break ... or is that just my wishful thinking since I hate to vacuum since it was my "Chore" to make the pretty vacuum lines while I lived at home.
Mom did get a dyson and loves it.
i have no clue..
i really want a dyson :)
I need a new vacuum, too. Mine died about a month ago so I've been sweeping the upstairs carpet. Not the best solution. :-)
Mine is pretty old too. I think about 14 yrs. I'm waiting & keeping my fingers crossed for now. Sorry about yours. My condolences.
