Happy Birthday to My Dad - You are Missed

.

Today would have been my father's 73rd birthday, and while my childhood wasn't always the best, there are some things that I do cherish about my youth. My father gave me my love of music, reading, and photography.

My dad passed away a few years ago and there are still times I still think of him and miss some things about him. I was going through photos the other day and found this one of my dad and his older brother, it was taken just as my dad was starting to decline. It is one of the few photos of my dad and the only one of my uncle that I have.

Wishing you were still here daddy, so that we could have worked things out and had a happier life together. Wherever you are, know that on this, your birthday, I am thinking of you and missing you.

Cartoon of the Day - School: Girls Will Be Girls

The best thing about starting school for a girl:

I remember starting school, being the 3rd daughter of a poor family, I tended to get LOTS of hand-me-downs, but I did get one new pair of jeans each year and I loved them. It didn't matter to me that they were only JC Penney Plain Pockets and not Levi's or Wrangler's or even Vidal Sassoon (remember those????), only that they were brand new, just mine, nobody had worn them before. It is probably one of the only nice childhood memories that I have, I don't really remember much of growing up, just bits and pieces and this is something I cherish.

What about you, what do you remember about school shopping?
