Happy Hanukkah (Chanukah)

.

Tonight at sundown begins the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah, which means "dedication" in Hebrew, correlating to the 25th of Kislev on the Hebrew calendar . Often called the Festival of Lights, the holiday is celebrated with the lighting of the menorah, traditional foods, games and gifts. There are many traditions and celebrations linked to the history of this beautiful eight-day holiday commemorating the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem.

So to all of you celebrating this wonderful holiday:

"Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the Universe,

Who has kept us alive, and has preserved us,
and enabled us to reach this season."

Welcome to a Monday's Music Moves Me, the fantabulistic music meme hosted by me, my dearest of friends Dolly from XmasDolly, Callie from Jamerican Spice and the wonderful Stacy from Stacy Uncorked. We are entering into the holiday season, so from now until the end of December, we will be posting Christmas Songs!! WooHoo, my favorite kind of music, there are so many more songs to choose and only this week to post. Not to mention that tomorrow is Hanukkah, so I want to honor my Jewish friends also.... Oh, what to post, what to post.....

First in honor of the first day of Hanukkah on the 20th I want to share this song by a group I have recently become aware of and I am totally loving. I hope you enjoy.....

Candlelight ~ The Maccabeats

And, of course, I had to share this Hanukkah song with you all, just to make you smile - cause that's what I do.....

The Hanukkah Song (Original) ~ Adam Sandler

Now for my Christmas songs... Here's a couple of cute ones to make you laugh:

Poinsettia Percy ~ Elmo and Patsy

Senor Santa Claus ~ Jim Reeves

(It Must've Been 'ol) Santa Claus ~ Harry Connick, Jr.

Who Spiked the Eggnog ~ Straight No Chaser

And now for some more traditional songs that I really love.....

The first song I really love, but I have just discovered this group and they do an amazing job at it, I hope you like it as much as I do:

Mary Did You Know ~ Kutless

The next two songs are two of my absolute favorites because they are beautiful and they really move me. They are sung by some of the most amazing singers ever.....

Gloria in Excelsis Deo ~ Andrea Bocelli

O Come All Ye Faithful ~ Celtic Woman

Hey there my rockin' friends, it's time once again for our Monday's Music Moves Me, the fantastic music meme that XmasDolly and I are hosting, along with Larry from Cakeblast and Callie from JamericanSpice. Won't you play along... here are the rules:

First step: You need to run on over to You Tube, (or wherever your find your songs/videos) and get your pick for the day according to the theme. Upcoming themes are over on Dolly's blog on the right sidebar.

Second Step: Grab our "Monday's Music Moves Me" button above or on Dolly's right sidebar.

Third step: Dance with (follow) your hostesses (that would be me and Dolly); grab our buttons; then sign the linky, either here or on Dolly's blog - they are linked.

Final step: Start lookin' for a partner and boogie on down to her blog (or his), and say hello by leaving a comment, and tag (follow) her/him. If you've been tagged (followed) be polite, and go on over there, leave a comment and tag (follow) her/him back.

In honor of the holidays, for the whole month of December, we are posting holiday songs.  Well, since Hanukkah began on Wednesday, I chose the following, with NO disrespect meant what-so-ever.  I happen to love the history behind the holiday of Hanukkah and I love this song as well.

Adam Sandler's Original Chanukah (Hanukkah) Song

Part 2 (not as good as the first, but still cute)

And finally, Part 3 (also not nearly as good as Part 1, but OK)

I think Part 1 will always be the funniest and the BEST, a true holiday classic.... OK, maybe not a classic, but I have to hear it every year, and it puts a smile on my face. Hope you liked it  - or at least tolerated it!

Now, don't forget to sign the linky and visit the participants and leave a comment. For more Monday music fun, visit Amanda, Run DMT and Hairbows & Guitar Picks. You may even be picked as the Spotlight Couple for next week like our couple for this week... who were chosen by Random.org. The SPOTLIGHT COUPLE of the week for today is:

~~ Joanie's Random Ramblngs              ~~ Xortr's Ramblings

So let's get dancing, get into the Christmas spirit and have some fun... Since next week we are continuing our theme of Christmas songs for the month. If you don't celebrate Christmas, that's OK, just post something that moves you, we are happy to have anyone play along - WE LOVE EVERYBODY!!

ROCK ON EVERYBODY!!!
