Countdown to Christmas...Mia's Christmas Sweater

.

With only 30 days until Christmas, I wanted to share with you a photo of Mia in her new Christmas Sweater.

She loved it so much that she was strutting her stuff as we took our walk this afternoon. She just knew she looked pretty.

Hope you are all enjoying your holiday preparations.

The Countdown to Christmas Begins.....

.

I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with those that you love.  I know I did, I spent the day with hubby, Bill, and all our little babies: Nano, Mia, Mandie, Mumbo, and Wiggles.  Everyone (and I DO mean everyone) loved my meal, which made me feel grateful for such a loving family.  Not to mention the leftovers we have for the next couple of days.

But, with Thanksgiving over, that means that there are only 31 days until Christmas.... AARRGGHH!!!  Have you got everything ready, are you still shopping, or are you pulling your hair out in clumps already?

To lighten you day, I'm going to (try to) post something funny every day until Christmas. It may be a joke, a comic, or just a funny photo of one of my doggies (I know there are a few of you out there that aren't sick of them yet).

So let the countdown begin, this first one if for all my lovely blogger friends:

Stay safe and sane.... HUGGLES!

.

Have you shared a Coke with someone anytime in your life? I'll bet it wasn't this way. Some engineering students were challenged to see if they could come up with he most outrageous way to share a Coke. Watch this video to see what iJustine, Josh TheComputerNerd01 and a few new friends came up with -- an incredible one-of-a-kind machine!

This made me smile so huge that I had to share it, hope you enjoyed it.

Once you've watched the video visit http://www.ahhgiver.com to share a Coke with your friends.

Veterans Day 2012 ~ Remember and Honor

.

On this day of remembrance, please be thoughtful of all of our veterans who bravely served so that we can live in the greatest country in the world, with all the freedoms that enjoy.

Please also keep in mind those who are still serving and are away from their families, and say a prayer that they all come home safely, soon.

I would like to give a shout out to my father and Uncle Raymond who served in the Air Force, and of course my son, Nikolaus, who is in the Army Reserves now, and spent a year in Afghanistan. I am so proud of you and thank you for your service and am so blessed that you all came home safely to our family.

God bless all of you who serve and have served to protect us and our country, and God bless America.

Flashback Friday ~ Little Mia

.

I am linking up with Camille of Crazy Mama for Flashback Friday. Camille is on a partial hiatus due to some carpal tunnel from her pregnancy, but she still managed to post a linky for us to add our photos to her site... what a trooper. Love you, Camille!!

Today I have decided to post a photo of our little Mia when she was just 4 years old - she is now 6 1/2 but is still lovable and cuddly. Any of you who know us, know that we totally adore and spoil our fur-babies. As you can see in this photo, Mia even has on her pearl necklace. Can you say DIVA????

So, how about you dig out some old photos and share them with us? I just love seeing what everyone looked like in the past.

Post your photo then link up with Camille over at Crazy Mama...... and have a great weekend.

"Let it Glow" Festival of Trees to Benefit Noah's Light Foundation

.

On November 30th, Celebration Town Hall will be all lit up with the glow of festival trees to benefit Noah's Light Foundation, as you know one of my favorite charities. There will be many ways to help the charity:

~ Purchase one of the beautifully decorated designer trees for your own home
~ Shop for holiday decorations; let your children shop on their own, too
~ Enter raffles to win great holiday items
~ Purchase a photograph of yourself with the Big Elf, himself - SANTA CLAUS
~ Enjoy the delicious holiday goodies, including the "Glowtini," the special drink of the event.
~ Of course, direct donations are always accepted  =)

Tickets in advance are $10 for adults/$5 for children 12 and under; tickets at the door are $15 for adults/$5 for children 12 and under.

To purchase tickets in advance head over to Noah's Light Foundation Event Page.

To make a donation at any time, head over to Noah's Light Donation Page.

Twas the night of Noah’s Party,
and all through Town Hall,

The people were laughing and having a ball.

The goodies were passed by servers with care,
As cocktails were flowing from bartenders with flair.

The music – it played, the raffles were won,
The carolers sang and the night wasn’t done.

For out of the blue, the Guests stopped and they paused,
And they knew they were there for a wonderful cause.

To help our Foundation find the cure; find the answer,
So that no other child loses their life to brain cancer. *

Hope to see you there!

Just a reminder, it is not only your right, but your privilege to vote.

We live in the greatest country with the most freedoms of anyone in world, let's show them how much we value our freedoms by exercising our right to vote.

You may not agree with either of the two major candidates, but find someone who can represent what you believe in and VOTE.

God bless America!!!

Have You Ever Wondered..... Plus a Few Oxymorons

.

1. Is it good if a vacuum really SUCKS?????

2. Why is the third hand on a watch/clock called a SECOND hand?

3. If a word is misspelled in the dictionary, how would we ever know?

4. If Webster wrote the first dictionary, where did he find the words?

5. Why do we say something is "out of whack" - what IS a whack?

6. Why does "slow down" and "slow up" mean the same thing?

7. Why does "fat chance" and "slim chance" mean the same thing?

8. Why do "tug" boats PUSH their barges?

9. Why do we sing "Take me out to the ball game" when we are already there?

10. Why are they called "stands" when they are made for SITTING?

11. Why is it called "after DARK" when it really is "after LIGHT?"

12. Doesn't "expecting the unexpected" make the unexpected EXPECTED?

13. Why are a "wise man" and a "wise guy" opposites?

14. Why do "overlook" and "oversee" mean the opposite?

15. Why is "phonics" NOT spelled the way it sounds? (That one always confused me.)

16. If work is so terrific, why do they have to PAY you to do it.

17. If all the world is a stage, where is the audience sitting?

18. If love is BLIND, why is lingerie so popular? (I laughed aloud at this one.)

19. If you are cross-eyed AND have dyslexia, can you read correctly? (No disrespect intended.)

20. Why is BRA singular and PANTIES plural? (I guess it works if you're a Kardashian)

21. Why do you press harder on the buttons of a remote control when you know the batteries are dying or dead?

22. Why do we put suits in GARMENT bags, and garments in SUITCASES?

23. Why is abbreviated such a long word?

24. Why do we wash bath towels? We are just clean when we use them.

25. Why doesn't GLUE stick to the inside of the bottle?

26. Why do we call it a television SET when it is only ONE unit?

27. Christmas is such a strange holiday... what other time of the year do you sit in front of a dead tree and eat candy out of your sock?

28. Why do we drive on a parkway and park in the driveway?

These are just some of the things I wonder about when I cannot sleep at night.  Are there things like this that fill your mind? Or am I the only one who has lost her mind with idiosyncrasies? Let me know in your comments, so I have some new things to put in my brain.  =)

2012 Orlando Home and Garden Show

.

On Sunday, Bill and I attended the 2012 Orlando Home and Garden Show and got to see several new and exciting things available for the house, yard, and even for yourself.

While the only thing we purchased that day was a new ring for me and some delicious dip mix, we took a lot of information for some things that we will be saving up money for in the future - like an inflatable spa that we can put out on our balcony.

I did take some photos of things that are available, some of which I would love to have in my yard - if I had a yard. =)

The ASPCA had rescue dogs available for adoption at the show, these were two of the dogs that were there, they were so cute and friendly.

There was also a dog trainer available for demonstrations and making personal appointments.

These are some of the items I wish I could have in my backyard.

This was a super sweet representative from Geico.

I heard this lady complaining about all the walking she had to do at the show. DUH!!

I just thought this was hysterical, all these people sitting in front of everyone with those things in their mouths and the light shining at their faces. I just had to take a photo.

We enjoy going to the Home Show each year and look forward to the one this spring. If you are ever in the area during one of the shows, stop by, it isn't very expensive and you can usually find discount tickets online or or from local merchants.
