"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love." Dr. Seuss
‘Tis the season for little black dresses, holiday parties and New Year’s toasts – with the continuous flow of holiday celebration, December and January offer endless reasons and opportunities to indulge in a drink … or two. While there’s no shame in the occasional glass of champagne, remember that alcohol can take a toll on your appearance. Check out this week’s webisode of Skinpact News, “Raise A Glass To Good Skin” for insights from Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields on how you can counter the undesirable effects of alcohol on your skin.

Around the office, we call it the Christmas Crush—people putting off appointments until the last minute and then clamoring to be diagnosed, treated and recovered before the family photo op, the Hawaiian getaway, or the New Year’s bash. Not that I’m judging. I’m as likely as anyone to put off a doctor’s visit. In fact, I’ve come to believe procrastination for most of us is the rule, not the exception.
Ironically, accepting this truth has actually allowed me to change my behavior. Because I know I’ll likely delay or avoid things that are either not urgent (yet) or just plain unpleasant, I’ve learned to plan ahead for my inevitable procrastination by proactively implementing solutions before many of my problems start. For example, I know I tend to break out as life gets busy and stress runs high. So, as events start to ramp up, so do I ramp up my acne regimen, applying twice daily until after the holidays. This helps me keep my skin clear from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day.
I share this advice with my patients, because whether you’re battling acne, sensitive skin flare-ups or even melasma, following this advice can help keep your skin clear this holiday season. So, instead of feeling overwhelmed by what we can’t achieve in entirety today and overly optimistic about what we’ll get done at the last minute, make mini commitments daily and keep them.
For information on any products to help you with your skin care, feel free to contact me on my website or via my email LJSBlog@aol.com.

Tonight at sundown begins the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah, which means "dedication" in Hebrew, correlating to the 25th of Kislev on the Hebrew calendar . Often called the Festival of Lights, the holiday is celebrated with the lighting of the menorah, traditional foods, games and gifts. There are many traditions and celebrations linked to the history of this beautiful eight-day holiday commemorating the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem.
So to all of you celebrating this wonderful holiday:
"Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the Universe,
Who has kept us alive, and has preserved us, and enabled us to reach this season."
The home of Derek and Courtney Whitis in SouthWood, which has been drawing spectators to its colorful and musical light display for weeks, has won the Good Morning America Big Bright Holiday Lights showdown contest. The visual display is accompanied by a four-minute soundtrack that plays a portion of the song for each branch of the military.
While the display will likely send the Whitis family’s electric bill sky high, Courtney Whitis says that the cost of the display is “nothing in comparison to what the troops do every day for our freedom.” She goes on to say, “We did this just to pay tribute to those who have served, are serving and will serve in the military protecting our freedom.”
Here is the winning home, I love it:
It is SO moving and a wonderful tribute to our troops. The Whitises seek to raise awareness and money for the Semper Fi Fund, which provides assistance for wounded soldiers in their recovery process. Those who would like to donate can visit semperfifund.org.
Let us continue to pray and support our troops and their families not only this time of the year, but all year long as they fight and sacrifice for our freedoms.
Welcome to a Monday's Music Moves Me, the fantabulistic music meme hosted by me, my dearest of friends Dolly from XmasDolly, Callie from Jamerican Spice and the wonderful Stacy from Stacy Uncorked. We are entering into the holiday season, so from now until the end of December, we will be posting Christmas Songs!!WooHoo, my favorite kind of music, there are so many more songs to choose and only this week to post. Not to mention that tomorrow is Hanukkah, so I want to honor my Jewish friends also.... Oh, what to post, what to post.....
First in honor of the first day of Hanukkah on the 20th I want to share this song by a group I have recently become aware of and I am totally loving. I hope you enjoy.....
Candlelight ~ The Maccabeats
And, of course, I had to share this Hanukkah song with you all, just to make you smile - cause that's what I do.....
The Hanukkah Song (Original) ~ Adam Sandler

Where did 2011 go? Wasn't it just yesterday when we welcomed 2011 and now, there’s only a few days left before we use a new calendar.
How did 2011 treat you? So-so? really lousy (I sure hope not!)?
What’s more perfect to look back on the year by answering this meme. My friend Grace over at Sandier Pastures has this great meme that she has been doing at the end of the year since 2006, I only stumbled on it last year. But I had fun with it last year and wanted to share it with all of you.
Head on over to Grace's blog and feel free to copy the questions and have fun answering them and post them on your blog when you are ready.
On the last day of the year, Grace will put up heranswers with a linky tool so we can link up our posts.
I can't wait to see how every one's 2011 went, so head on over to Sandier Pastures now and get the questions.....
Most of you know that I LOVE my rock and roll music, but I don't know how many of you know that I also love Christmas lights that are synchronized with music. We have a house here in town that is absolutely beautifully done each year and he takes donations for local charities.
This house however, my hubby found and sent it to me because he knew I would LOVE it. It combines my love of all things rock and all things Christmas. Get ready to ROCK YOUR SOCKS OFF.....
One of the best things about living here in Celebration is the Now Snowing Nightly that happens each year from the day after Thanksgiving to New Years Day every night 3 times a night. It draws families from all over the country and even the world.
It is actually a soapy substance that looks like snow, but it just as slippery as real snow, so I stay away from it - you know me, I can't stay upright on dry ground. TeeHee! Recently Bill and I took two of the doggies downtown to just watch the festivities - that's where Nano met Santa. Here are some photos of the kids having fun.
Don't they all look like they had a great time? I love just sitting and watching them, it makes me smile!
