Cartoon of the Day - School: Girls Will Be Girls

The best thing about starting school for a girl:

I remember starting school, being the 3rd daughter of a poor family, I tended to get LOTS of hand-me-downs, but I did get one new pair of jeans each year and I loved them. It didn't matter to me that they were only JC Penney Plain Pockets and not Levi's or Wrangler's or even Vidal Sassoon (remember those????), only that they were brand new, just mine, nobody had worn them before. It is probably one of the only nice childhood memories that I have, I don't really remember much of growing up, just bits and pieces and this is something I cherish.

What about you, what do you remember about school shopping?

I remember shopping at Zayre's for kindergarten clothes...and even remember the feel of one of my favorite dresses. Clothes shopping was the only part I really liked about getting shoved out of the house and being forced to go to school. ;o) I don't know why...but I remember a lot about heading out to kindergarten.

According to your jeans...you are younger than me. :o)

School shopping...we also were pretty darn poor! We went to Hills and if there was a pair of jeans on sale, then I got 5 pairs of the same jeans. You had to hope that they came in more than one shade (which they normally didn't) and I had to wear the "same" jeans to school every day. I actually had to bring them all to school one day because the kids were picking on me about wearing the same clothes every day!

Not a good memory, but a memory none the less.
