Merry Christmas from The Shewbridges

.
Well, as usual, I'm late.... But know that I love you all deeply an pray that you had the most wonderful of Christmases, surrounded by those you love.

I sure did.  I was with Bill, Nano, Mia, Mandie, Mumbo, and Wiggles. Don't they all look so adorable in their Christmas clothes? We also heard from all our children, who were having a fantastic time, except for wishing we could all be together.

Praying for those who cannot be together as they are serving our country, protecting us so that we may have our religious freedoms to celebrate all our holidays in the way we wish. Also a prayer that they will all return home safely and soon to their loving families!

HUGGLES to you all!!

Yes, People We Have Five Doggies.....

.

Bill got this photo from a friend of ours and it reminded me of the reaction we get from people whenever we tell them we have five dogs. It really is hysterical and I fell in love with this photo.

Here are my babies.....

(L-R) Lady Mia, Nano, Mumbo, Mandy, Wiggles

I don't know if you would call us crazy, but how can you resist these faces?

OK, yep, we ARE crazy, but we sure do have a lot of love in our house!

If you have enough room in your heart and home for a dog (or any other pet), PLEASE adopt don't buy - save a life with your love.

Blog Hop - Hey Girl.....

.

Trisha over at Momdot has been doing some bloghops and I have missed several of them (BooHoo) because I haven't been feeling well and haven't been on my computer much. However, yesterday she started a "Hey Girl" meme.

Now to be honest, I had no idea what this was all about and had to Google it, but when I saw the other participants posts, I truly wanted to join in on this meme.

So post your photos and link up with Trisha over at Momdot...

I am also doing catch-up with one of the blog-hops Trisha did last week - Get to Know How Badly I Eat by Sharing Your Fridge and Pantry AS IS:

This is the bottom of the pantry that is really a mess and embarrassing.

Hope you enjoyed these blog hops and you join in. I am having so much fun checking out everyone elses posts, some of which make me laugh so hard, I actually snort. =)

Looking forward to the next one.....

Happy 5th Birthday to My Crazy Doggie Mumbo!

.

Today my darling doggie Mumbo turns FIVE years old. He is the son of our late doggie Mai-Li. I swear that Mumbo is a little bit bi-polar, he can be super sweet at one time and then get crabby at any moment for no reason that we can tell. However, since his mama died, he has been very cuddly with me and loves to wake me up every morning by licking my whole face. Which wouldn't be so bad if he didn't have breath that smelled like ASS! Blech!!

He and Mandie have become great friends and walk together when we all go out for our walks, plus when Wiggles, who thinks all 4 pounds of her is the boss of the house, tries to antoagonize Mandie, Mumbo will put his big (relatively) body between Mandie and Wiggles so he can protect his buddy Mandie.

He is really a sweetie pie, even when he is in one of his moods, all I have to do is to pick him up, hug him, and talk sweetly to him. Then he seems to calm down.

After I go out, when I come home, Mumbo is the first one to come up to me and jumps all over me, giving me kisses like he hasn't seen me in months... even if I've been gone for only a 1/2 hour.

Here are some photos of my beautiful little man.
Don't you agree he is one of the cutest doggies in the world?

Happy 5th birthday my little man...
Mommy loves you SO much!!

Silly Photos of Mumbo the #Yorkie

.

We received a sample of adult incontinence briefs - don't ask me why - but I decided to put them on Mumbo just to see what he would do. It was SO funny watching him walk around in them. They really were too big, but he was so good and didn't even try to get them off. I should have taken a video, but I didn't even think about it. I did, however, take a couple of photos for you guys to see my silly little doggie..... Enjoy!

Isn't he just adorable? I love my puppies! =)

Self-Portrait Sunday ~~ Lying on the Floor

.

ReesSpace

My friend Maria over at Maria's Space started this meme to get us out from BEHIND the camera and showcase our own lovely faces on our blogs.... We don't want to have a blog full of our family, friends and children and when we go back years later and wonder.... where the heck were we and what did we look like?

We took four of the dogs out for brunch this morning to celebrate Mai-Li's birthday and when we got home Mumbo was so excited to see us that he was jumping all over me, so I got down on the floor to play with him. (No easy fete I might add.) Then I decided to take a couple of photos while I was down there.....

Join Maria by posting your beautiful face and link up with Maria over at Maria's Space, visit the other participants and leave them a nice comment.

Hope you are all having a great weekend.

Ten Most Common Pet Poisons

.

Poor Mumbo was sick the other day - he was so miserable, just look at him, isn't it so sad. I knew that he hadn't eaten any new food, so I went looking on some of my trusted sites on the internet to see if there was anything that he may have gotten into that could have made him sick.  While I couldn't find anything that may have made him sick, I figure maybe he just had a bug, and BTW, he is feeling much better now, I wanted to share what I found on the ASPCA site to keep you all informed for your fur-babies.

Here are the top ten pet toxins you need to watch out for:

Human Medications

Human medications are once again at the top of the list of pet toxins for 2010. Almost 25 percent of our calls concerned human medications accidentally ingested by pets. The most common culprits include over-the-counter medications (ibuprofen, acetaminophen), antidepressants and ADHD medications.

Insecticides

About 20% of the calls to the APCC are about insecticides. Insecticides are commonly used on our pets for flea control and around our houses to control crawling and flying bugs. The most serious poisonings occurred when products not labeled for use in cats were applied to them. Always follow label directions.

Rodenticides

Baits used to kill mice and rats are mostly grain based. Not only does this attract rodents, but it attracts dogs and cats. There are several different types of rodenticides that can cause seizures, internal bleeding or kidney failure. Always make sure these items are placed in areas that pets cannot access.

People Food

Xylitol, grapes, raisins, onions and garlic are commonly ingested by our pets. Grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure in dogs, while onions and garlic can cause anemia if enough is ingested. Xylitol, a sugar alcohol used to sweeten sugar free gums and mints, can cause low blood sugar and liver failure in dogs.

Veterinary Medications

Many medications made for our pets are flavored for ease of giving. Unfortunately, that means that animals may ingest the entire bottle of medication if they find it tasty. Common chewable medications include arthritis and incontinence medications. Contact your veterinarian if your pet ingests more than his proper dose of medication.

Chocolate

Chocolate contains methylxanthines, which act as stimulants to our pets. The darker the chocolate, the more methylxanthines it contains. Methylxanthines can cause agitation, vomiting, diarrhea, high heart rate, muscle tremors, seizures and death.

Household Toxins

Cleaning supplies, such as bleach, acids, alkalis and other detergents, can cause corrosive injury to the mouth and stomach. Other household items such as batteries and liquid potpourri can cause similar problems. Always keep these toxins behind securely locked doors.

Plants

Both house plants and outdoor plants can be ingested by our pets. Lilies can cause life-threatening kidney failure in cats, while sago palms can cause liver failure in dogs and cats. Keep house plants and bouquets away from your pets.

Herbicides

Many herbicides have a salty taste, and our pets will commonly ingest them. Always follow label directions and keep pets off treated areas until they are dry.

Outdoor Toxins

Antifreeze, fertilizers and ice melts are all substances that animals can find outdoors. Keep these items in securely locked sheds or on high shelves where pets cannot get to them.

Thank you to the ASPCA for help with my baby... you are always there to for animals of all kinds. If you are inclined, feel free to donate any amount by clicking on the link on either sidebar. Also, if you ever have a question about something your animal has eaten or you think you animal has ingested a toxin - call your vet right away, or contact the Animal Poison Control Center’s 24-hour hotline at (888) 426-4435.

{Disclosure: Thank you to the ASPCA for this information. I received no compensation for this post, I just love my babies and wanted to share this with all of my readers.}

Mommy and Me Monday: Mommy and Mumbo Watching TV

.

Mommy and Me Monday at Really, Are You Serious?
Hosted by Krystyn at Really, Are You Serious?

Welcome to another edition of Mommy & Me Monday.....

When I sit in my chair in the family room, at least 4 of our doggies sit with me on the chair (right now there are 5 with me because Nano is on the ottoman), either behind me on the back of the chair or on the arms.  Here is a picture of me and Mumbo as we are watching TV {of course my ever present laptop is with me, too}, he made sure I knew he was there by putting his paw on my shoulder and giving me a kiss on the ear. :)

Isn't he just the cutest?

If you'd like to participate in Mommy & Me Monday, here is all you need to do Per Krystyn's blog:

"Pop out from behind that camera and capture yourself in action with your kids. Grab the button and link up.  Make some new friends and visit some old ones, too. There really is only one requirement here, a picture of you and your baby or babies; your children, your “baby” (i.e. significant other) or even your fur babies."

So head on over, link up, visit the other participants, and don't forget to LEAVE A COMMENT, you love them so you know that other people will too!

Happy Monday, y'all.... :)

Doggie Photo Shoot

The other day, with lots of help from my ever supportive and patient husband Bill, I did a photo shoot with all the doggies after they had all had a bath. {This time I did their baths in shifts, three at a time, TeeHee}.  Here are the best ones out of about 30 photos.....

These are the three Yorkies that we are dog-sitting: Maila, Mai-Li, and Mumbo

These are our three doggies: Lady Mia, Mandie, and Nano

The Boys: Mumbo and Nano

The Girls: Lady Mia, Mandie, Mai-Li, and Maila

The Yorkies: Nano, Lady Mia, Mai-Li, Maila, and Mumbo

Everybody: Nano, Lady Mia, Mandie, Mai-Li, Maila, and Mumbo

Do you KNOW how hard it is to get six dogs to all look one way at the same time????  If you look at the photos, you can see that it is darned impossible.  I still think they are all so adorable and I am going to miss Mai-Li, Maila and Mumbo when they go home.  Their mama, Tyna, is coming home tomorrow and will be picking them up.  I know she misses them terribly and they miss her.  We have been texting her photos almost every day of them and she is so grateful.

Hope you enjoyed the photos and have a wonderful week.
