It was President Harry S. Truman who wanted to set aside a single day for all Americans to come together to thank the members of the military for their service and sacrifice in support of our glorious country. So, on August 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day stemming from the unification of the Armed Forces under one department ~ the Department of Defense.
Today, or any day if you see a member of our wonderful, ALL VOLUNTEER, military please say THANK YOU for their service and sacrifice that they and their family go through on behalf of our country and each and every one of us.
Here is a special tribute to all of them....
God bless America!

AMEN!
Amen to that!
What a beautiful tribute! I'm proud to be an American from the soles of my feet to the top of my head. Thanks to all those who serve our country so proudly.
