Friday Photo Flashback ~ My Little Alexander (OK, so he's not THAT little)

Alicia from More Than Words says she started Friday Photo Flashback because "I have so many pictures from my PRE-digital camera days. I thought it would be fun to scan them and share them here with you.. I'm having so much fun doing this, that I would love for you to join me, too! These are photos from about three and a half years ago when Alexander came down to visit and we went to Disney World ~ you are all SHOCKED, I know. I love going there with the boys because we have so much fun and we all feel fine acting like kids and laughing at each other and ourselves. I can't wait until both boys can come down again, soon, but their work schedules, school and the Army (not to mention gas prices) have other ideas for them. Believe me, y'all will be the second to know when they are planning on coming for a visit! HaHa

It was such a beautiful day last Saturday, that I was craving a nice fresh salad for dinner, so that is what I made myself for dinner... that and a nice glass of wine.

Thursday's Recipe Swap Meet ~ Blushing Apples

.

OK... we know you have all these recipes that you love to make. You got them from your mother, your grandmother, a magazine, or maybe you made it up, perhaps you don't even remember where the recipe came from. Well, how about sharing them with all of us? We are going to share ours with you every Thursday!




My good friend and (according to her husband) excellent cook, Dolly over at XmasDolly and I are now doing a recipe swap; we want to share ours with you and wold LOVE to get some of your favorites as well... So welcome to Thursday's Recipe Swap Meet, here is all you have to do:

Post a recipe on your blog, sign the linky on either blog (they will be linked), grab our new button - isn't she cute - hubby says she looks like me... TeeHee? (above, on my sidebar and on my Co-Chef Dolly's blog) and check out the recipes. Don't forget that each week you actually will be getting at least TWO for the price of ONE because both Dolly and I will post a recipe on each of our blogs. How simple is that??




Today I chose a really simple dessert recipe (but forgot to take photos... DOH!!)

Blushing Apples


2 pkg. (4 serving size) cherry gelatin (I recommend Jell-O brand) - you could also use your favorite flavor
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
4 cups water
4 medium Granny Smith apple (you can also use McIntosh or your favorite apple)
1/2 c whipped cream (I like to make my own homemade, but you can use your favorite)


~ Combine dry gelatin mix and cinnamon in saucepan. Add water, bring to boil on medium-high heat stirring frequently until gelatin is completely dissolved.
~ Peel and core apples. Add to gelatin mixture in saucepan, PARTIALLY cover pan with lid and return to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 10-15 minutes gently turning apples every 5 minutes. Remove apples from liquid.
~ Serve apples either warm or cold with fresh whipped cream.


This recipe only received 1 out of 6 puppy tail wags... but that's because my babies are really carnivores and Mumbo will eat just about anything. =)

Welcome to Wordless Wednesday.... Believe it or not, today I am NOT posting a photo of my fur-babies. HaHa! Instead, I am posting a photo of the love of my life - this is what Bill wore Easter Sunday when we went out for brunch.  Isn't he just adorable?  If you compare his photo with mine from my Self-Portrait Sunday, you can see that we match.  Yeah, we are THAT couple... TeeHee!

Tribute to the Navy Seals

.

As I am sure you have all heard by now... our troops have killed the evil incarnate Osama bin Laden - HooRah!!  I would like to take this opportunity to give credit to the amazing small contingent of the Navy's elite SEAL Team Six under the command of CIA Director Leon Panetta.


According to officials, no Americans were injured. =)  Senior administration officials will only say that bin Laden "resisted." And then the man behind the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil died from an American bullet to his head.  Way to go Seals!!


I know this in no way brings back those who lost their lives in the worst terrorist disaster on U.S. soil on 9/11/2001, but I hope in some small way they are able to have some closure and relief from what happened and now get some sleep at night.

Thank you to our dear troops for always being there in harms way to do your jobs and protect us from harm.

You are our true heroes and we love and support you. God bless you and God bless America!!

My friend Maria over at Maria's Space started this meme to get us out from BEHIND the camera and showcase our own lovely faces on our blogs.... We don't want to have a blog full of our family, friends and children and when we go back years later and wonder.... where the heck were we and what did we look like?



This photo is me on Easter Sunday... Bill and I went out to dinner at our favorite Irish Pub Shannon's of Celebration then we came home and vegged out on the couch and watched a movie. I love spending time with him and my fur-babies.
